Dear Funsters
We tow a VW UP GTI behind our motorhome and noticed one being towed a few weeks ago which appeared to have a purpose made protective black cover similar to those that caravan owners use whilst travelling.
Would anyone know where to get one of these?
We have searched the Internet without success.
Many thanks
Paul

Try Towbars2Towcars. They should be able to help with their ‘Hoodies’. Not cheap though 😬

Use link for phone number. I can’t actually see them on their website. They do them cos we have one for our Hyundai i10.👍

I quite fancy one of these VW UP GTi’s as a toad. Can I ask, are they as good as they appear on paper?

Can't see the point myself.
The front of the car is maybe 2.5 MTRS behind the vans rear wheels and maybe 1.5mtrs of that is low level rear end overhang so should effectively stop any stones etc being thrown high enough to cause damage.

Sorry to contradict you John..... (I`m NOT sorry, really.)

But that is a load of codswallop....... if you could see the muck that gets on the front in wet weather...It`s unbelievable..

All that would be chucked up and thrown through the radiator and onto the engine.. not to mention all the silly little cut out`s that house various lights... Fog Running Light and indicator`s and the proverbial air vents that a lot of cars have filling up with road grime/Mud and little stones and grit..... (y)

We bought a White VW Hi UP! specifically for towing our Hymer which came 9 months after we bought the little VW.
I loved it that much that it was my car of choice to drive around however it was a tad underpowered. I then decided that as I loved it so much I would that I would look for a brand new Silver GTI.
What a difference!
The GTI is absolutely superb and highly recommended,. It is a little "pocket rocket " and has all the gismos

I fully agree with Old Mo. We have one for our Aygo toad. Well worth fitting keeps it nice and clean and protected. Not cheap but well worth it in my opinion.

Back to the drawing Board!
I rang Towbars2Towcars and spoke to a very nice gent who tells me that they do not have a cover for a new type VW UP GTI as the bumper is a little larger that a normal UP. He tells me that I could be waiting for 3 months or more before I can get my hands on one of these through them.
Is there anyone else that you now of that makes these?

Hi Moly. Did you get anywhere with this? We are going to a vw dealer today to enquire about a new up gti, and I just phoned Tow-Bars to check on availability of the "hoodies" and they still haven’t got any. They are in the pipeline, but as of yet not come to fruition

Just received this!
Did you get your new Up GTI ?
Excellent little car perfect for towing on an "A" frame and a pocket rocket when driven.
I did struggle getting a front cover (Hoodie) for the Up GTI but will speak to Towbars2towcars to see if any progress has been made. (just noticed you beat me to it)
I have not noticed any damage on the Up and we have towed it on several occasions since originally posting this.

Thanks Moly. Have ordered a new up gti with a 6 - 8 month lead time 😬😲🤷‍♂️

As you noticed, I did speak to towbars and the problem is, they fly in a lady from Turkey, who then measures them up and goes back to start work on them…so god only knows how long it will take for them to receive any?

We like the idea of a cover for the front of our 107 and I’ve been thinking how I could make one.
If I do make one I will extend it up the windscreen, will help protect against stones etc!
