Well today has been all about killing grinder blades in as short a time as possible. In typical fashion my faithful 9 inch grinder managed 4 cuts on a 9 x 4 steel beam and spat its dummy out ( New brushes needed) suppose i cant complain as its put up with six years of abuse at my hands. So out with the 5inch grinder and let the games begin. Mocked up the new steel work for the dropwell and pretty happy with the results, Now to decide whether i go for a 500mm drop or the full monty 600mm going to bolt up the 600mm to make sure i wont be dragging the arse of the lorry, going by the measuring it should work but i only believe it once i have built it. Either way i will have a 1800mm head height in the garage and either 5foot or 4foot6 headroom in the bedroom. All the lippert slide outs for the lockers arrived from the auction house and tomorrow all the locker doors, windows and hab door arrive, now it might start to look like a motorhome.A few pics of the day.

all being equal should have it all mocked up early next week then give the welder a shout. Might have to drive to his workshop(oh what a shame) in Bridlington get some fish and chips while i wait( more likely i'll be closing my eyes and trying to get it all to fit) Last major hurdle. Then its all the easy stuff( famous last words)

Well the better half (so she thinks) felt that i would like a nice rest from doing the lorry (i didn't agree) and spending some time in the garden would be wonderful. So the list went like this.
Fit hanging baskets
Fit trough baskets
Get compost for the above
finish rockery (it's only been on my list for 2 years)
Dig trench for asparagus and fill with manure
Clear raised bed and fill with manure, compost and soil
Go and get more compost and manure
All boxes now ticked.
Found a new garden ornament in the rockery(see pic)

So tomorrow its back to safety in the lorry,

Top Dogs, in more ways than one. My younger one (8) is a bit of a softly, the older one (nearly 11) doesn't start anything, but he always finishes it! He showed those characteristics as a pup when all the litter were still together, which drew me to him, he put up with a lot then sorted them out, then went back to sleep!

Sorry, back to van builds .......

in life as in everything, jump in and make it up as you go along. Done me well for 52 years ( only a few major flip ups on the way) but without them i wouldn't be here today doing all this.

got on with a bit more this week. windows fitted and made lots of big bits of steel into little bits. will be aiming to get the steel welded this week( haven't i said that before?) After spending way too long getting the vinyl wrap off around the window openings i think the feet will be staying for a bit longer, going to have a chat with a mate who makes all things vinyl wrap to get some silly logo's and arrows to cover the places where DFS had their logo's removed. A few pic's.
