Pity i have changed laptop or could show a pretty frighteneing video of how quickly a van can go up due to a 'slight' gas leak. Caravan, not motorhome at a peak district campsite a few years ago.

To give some idea of gas usage. Our American trailer parked up permanently in Benidorm last summer used a 13 kg bottle of gas every 11 days. We kept the large American fridge freezer on gas to save electric. We cooked on a regular basis and occasionally used the water heater. Thats 11 DAYS for 1 bottle in the heat of Benidorm. Switch the bottle off before you kill someone.

I suspect the flue needs a good clean. The more soot in the flue the less efficient the fridge becomes until eventually it does not cool at all.
A simple and quick job to undertake.
It won't make it use any more gas the amout of gas flowing is limited by the size of the jet. it has to be a leak.

I to have seen a caravan go up on a site, guess what caused it - leaking gas pipe on the fridge, no one hurt as users were out for the day it was an old van borrowed from friends (maybe ex friends:)) there wasn't much left of it.

I always carry one of these slightest whiff and out it comes.

thats why you need more than 6 meters between vans.... there could be one parked next to you ::

Jet could have been enlarged by cleaning it with a bit of wire or similar, but a bottle a day!!

It does seem like a leak is most likely buy their fridge is right next to their hab door and I find it strange that they didn't smell any gas when using the fridge yet she has a particularly see sensitive nose for detecting gas leaks.
