Fridge struggling in heat freezer okay do they work better on gas of 240 on 240 at present got fans on bottom of fridge not cold

They usually work better on gas. Give it a go and see what happens.

As above-Always better on gas, try it about half way on the control.

What exterior temperature are you having?

Sorry if it sounds obvious but try to avoid having the Sun directly on the side of the van where the fridge is. Make sure your van is horizontal, that makes a difference.

take the vents off to allow more air circulation, if you have a blower fan use that as well

Normally better on gas. Fans work better on the top vent pulling hot air out.
Don't overload the fridge allow space for air to circulate and keep door opening to a minimum.

Run on gas
Van horizontal
Fan in fridge circulating air
Fan on external top vent. Works a treat.

We had this problem recently, I looked up old threads on here, so I turned the temperature dial down from full to just under half way ( as already suggested) and since then it seems fine, regardless of whether we are on gas or electric. (I also wiped a bit of debris from under the pilot light but not much. )

Don't have the fans blowing into the bottom vent, the fridge needs heat to work. If the ambient isn't too high (ie UK) you shouldn't need them at all ?

Until we know what temperature the OP is facing, we have no idea what advice would be the most helpful.

What is the ambient temperature and is the side of your van where the fridge is exposed to the sun?

A chap over the way said he fixed his by fitting a fan at the bottom aswell he is 30 m from me and having no problem

I'm in St Tropez area at the moment and my fridge is struggling a bit.

As most have said keep fridge as empty as possible, keep door opening to minimum and keep fridge side shaded.

High ambient is the Achilles of these type of fridges, I'm pondering swapping my full oven for just a hob and putting a small compressor fridge in its place.

I found fitting an internal fan made a big difference, temp gets back down a lot quicker after the door as been open.

When you say have fans on top vent how do you do this? Fit fans? Use an electril portable 12v fan? inside blowing out?

Thanks

Fit computer case fans to the top vent and control with a temperature controller to operate them.
This in my install.
