Hi All,
My fridge went on the blink again, since it was only fixed in May and looked a very straight forward job, I ordered a new jet cap? And striped it out only to find the cap was not fitted, hmmm? I've cleaned it and reassembled as is, as my order will only arrive Monday.
So...it would appear the fridge temp is coming down, but I imagine the exhaust is warmer than normal?
What effect, if any will this have (for a few days) if any. The pilot cap fits over the top the rose in the picture and only has one hole as I recall.
Hoping someone recognizes this photo.
Ta
Steph

Your photo is the burner, the jet is at the other end of that lump of metal where the nut is from the gas pipe, the jet sits on the swaged end of the pipe.

Hmm, I did try blowing through that end without any success? Should you be able to feel or hear air pass through it?

Thanks Martin,
I did try a small needle that end and soaked it in WD-40, although I could not feel or hear air passing through it ?
I'll attach a photo of the component when it arrives, hoping it is as I remember? The supplier seemed to know what I was looking for, so it would be a cap over the "burner" (thanks for that)

It is, or it should be a very small hole and yes you might struggle to blow through it.

So could I press the jet out of the housing, there is a large hole in front of it, I was wondering if the gas is directed across the hole to the burner, or, flows through the block some how.???

The jet should just fall out of the block, it's just very thin pressed steel.

The gas goes through the jet mixes with some air and the burns at the burner head.

Yep your jet is definitely buggered if you've put a needle in it, as said it should just fall out, tap burn on something, jet end down because the jets probably stuck in.

My jet was stuck fast and I could only get it out by blowing compressed air through it.

The fine stream of gas from the jet whistles past the large holes and draws in air through those holes due to the "venturi effect" which then mix together in the correct ratio for combustion. If the jet is partially blocked or enlarged due to poking it, or if the air are holes restricted by flakes of rust or a cobweb, then the gas/air ratio will be unbalanced and your flame will suffer.

Thanks for your help guys, I obtained a detailed drawing from "Leisure" which only shows the one jet and no other cap/jet? over the burner ( that I thought I saw...but didnt?) ah, the joys of old age?
so im sure I will be receiving a new jet (as the price is as Alex suggests) not some fictitious component of my imagination, ......and I did call it a jet.
whatever I did with wd40 and a Pin , its working tip top, so ill have a new spare jet to take to Italy in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again all, that was helpfull....its so nice to have advise close at hand like this.

Long time
I knew 'someone' who cleaned their fridge gas kept out with a needle and nearly set fire to the van because the hole in the jet had been opened up-with the needle-and the resulting flame was enormous!
Never ever put a needle/pin/or anything other than pressurised air through any jet that you think may be blocked!:D

As I mentioned, it seems to be running a bit warmer at the exaughst than I remember, but my memory is a bit squiffy (like the imagined component indicates) but its working so well at the moment ill just monitor it. Ive received the new jet and will bare in mind your caution, I do have a portable tyre inflator (compressor)which would work...i think, but hopefully Ill have a good run before it gives a problem again.
