Another fridge problem. Thetford N3000 series. Turned on this morning prior to going away and automatically switches to gas rather than mains. Error code 10. Am I right in thinking that’s an expensive one? Mains working elsewhere in van. Thanks for any advice . Solaris

Am I right in thinking that’s an expensive one?
Probably not. The coolant circulates around the main coolant circuit causing a cooling effect. A small amount of heat in one corner makes the coolant circulate. The heat can be supplied by a 12V heater element, a 240V heater element, or a small gas burner. If the fridge works on gas, then that means the main coolant circuit (the expensive part) is working fine.

The problem could be a tripped mains heater supply, a bad connection, or a failed mains heater element. I don't know the details of your fridge, but it's likely the element can be replaced through the external vents at the back.

Well on my fridge I had the element replaced and it worked for a few months but then gave up again.

I've had it checked out and its evidently the black box brain behind the lower fridge vent. Its a costly part at about £200 and I haven't bothered to replace it yet as quite happy to run it on gas.

thanks for your replies. Using tester this afternoon there is power to back of fridge. Looks like it’ll be on gas next week. Mind you Norfolk is not forecast as being too hot next week
