Unbelievable, going to France for a short break tomorrow, put the fridge on this afternoon and its making noise from the back. The fridge seems to be working but the motor sounds like its in pain. I have put a clip on u tube to see if anyone can tell me what's wrong and what I need to do?

What make fridge is it, most fridges in motorhomes don't have a motor like household fridges, especially as yours runs off gas as well as 240 I would assume it to be an absorbtion type fridge such as the Electrolux /Dometic or Thetford ranges, does it have a fan or may be two fitted inside the top vent as the sound sounds like something catching in one of these fans that are added to help get rid of the warm air created by the fridge. If it is just a fan you should be able to disconnect if needed they are not normally needed unless in an especially hot climate.

By any chance have you got a cooling fan fridge located somewhere behind the fridge ? sounds like something caught in the blade ,just a thought. they have a manual switch located near ,or maybe auto !

Loose or fouling fan - I would say it is loose. Sometimes they wear and do not spin true.

Better add - you can replace with two computer fans, which run at a slower speed - but are silent in comparison. You can get replacement fan kits - either through dometic, or through online auction sites.

Excuse me...

How are our intrepid band of motorhome dealers and repair specialists meant to make a meagre living if Funsters continue to solve other Funsters' technical troubles for free?

I bet one or two dealers with posh workshops would have charged £50 - £75 for that "repair".

Why line their pockets..?

£50-£75 buys an awful lot of French wines :Cool:
