hi,had the fridge man out to day to have look at our fridge freezer, and said it cannot be gas, help needed as a new one cost £800-£1200
Ah ! misleading first post. it could be the pilot flame isnt lighting.....soot in the burner tube can dislodge and fall on the pilot jet and block it. it could also be the thermostat isnt working or the flame failure device has failed....turns the ignitor on if the pliot goes out. could even be the electronic circuit board that has failed. i'd get someone else to have a look who actually knows how motorhome fridges work and the faults to look for before you consider replacing a fridge which, in all probability, works fine. as an afterthought.....do your cooker burners and gas heater light ? if not its a blocked regulator on the gas bottles.
This might seem daft, but sometimes the fridge coolant doesn't work and all that it needs is the fridge taking out and turning over slowly 360 degrees (full circle) and refitting the fridge. We used to do this years ago with the old gas fridges that we used to have in a lot of homes. John.
looks like i got the other wrong end of the stick. oh: sounds like thermostat failure to me but strange for both 230v and gas thermo's to fail together. or loss of coolant. this may sound really stupid but you dont have the external vent covers on by any chance do you.....see told you it was stupid.oh:
if the above dosnt work as a last resort take the fridge out of the van remeber to turn the gas off (you will need to to replace it anyway ) then turn the fridge on its side then the top then another side then back to the base (in a full circle so to speak) then stand it in a corner pluged in on full see if that has started it working if that fails and the prev post its probably finished sorry
i had the same prob but the fridge smellt of amonia so its just storage at the moment looking at another type of fridge etc as was quoted the same sort of price so poss a smaller fridge and xtra storage built into where the frige sits :thumb:
