Hi Guys,

Just received my CBE fridge fan kit and having a look at the instal all looks to be very simple (famous last words?)

just one thing, my fridge is a dometic 3 way with a permanent 12v supply which is where I intend to take the feed for the fans from, only thing is, how does this terminal cover come off? I don’t want to try and prise/force it off in case I damage it, has anyone else taken this cover off, and if so, how did you do it?

Thanks!

Looks a nice piece of kit.
If you can't easily take the cover off, you could just splice into he wires and then tape them all back up? It isn't somewhere anyone can see usually?

The cover just unclips, just push the sides in.

When we installed ours, we just spliced in.
I bought same kit from a supplier in Netherlands I know others will say it’s cheaper buying the bits but we found the install easy and liked it coming as a kit.
Do install it so it’s easy to remove should you need the access , I know because we had a leaking water pipe to shower behind the fridge whilst away from home. ☹️

The connections to the terminal block are shrouded and access is a bit limited to get in to splice, especially if doing it right with soldering, heat shrink etc, should be easier if I can access the terminal block.

Thanks Lenny, I’ll have another look tomorrow if the weather holds?
With time on my hands and having bought the parts some months ago I wondered how your efforts were progressing and if you had any relevant pics. Chris CM

Good timing! As it happens I just finished the instal 2 days ago! I took a number of photos as I went along.

I was hoping to find terminals behind the cover but it was a plug so spliced into the supply to the 12v supply.

One problem was keeping the cables away from the gas burner exhaust. I screwed a screw eye into the underside of the work surface above the fridge and secured them with a cable tie.

Hope the photos are of some use.

Sorry! I haven’t got the hang of posting multiple photos! So they are a bit out of sequence and multiple copies as well ?

Please excuse my ignorance, but where do the fans fit and what's the purpose of them.
Thanks

ChrisCM, is the above photo "Fans Fitted" taken from the outside of your MH with the vent/grille removed. I take it the fans improve the efficiency of the fridge ? or is there another reason for fitting them.

Havnt come across them before, hence the questions.

Thanks

Yes, fitted inside of the top fridge vent, sorry should have made it clear! The idea is to help the airflow over the cooling fins on the condenser, in my van the cooling fins are above the top of the external vent leading to very inefficient cooling. The fans certainly pull a lot of air through so can only help in hot weather. You can just about see the cooling fins at the top of this photo taken looking up into the vent.

Our MH fridges usually have two vents.
Top one allows warmed air out and drawers outside cooler air in by natural convection (hot air removed from the fridge rises).
The fan helps by pushing the warmer air out and draws more cooler air in.

Ah, so the fans draw air in, not push hot air out?

They suck warm air out.

So that I've got this right. Without the fans the air is drawn in from the lower grille the air is warmed by the fridge and dispersed via the top grille. by adding the electric fans it speeds up the process, Correct?

Thanks
