Fresh Water Tank Sterilized

Reading up the fresh tank should be drained (common sense if not used) but sterilized each 6 months. So what do you use to do this.

What could be used which is kind to the environment and not nasty chemicals , not expensive packaging stuff, or bleach ( wrong word) type stuff.

I use citric acid granules dissolved in water, 1 tablespoon per litre. Put in enough to run it through your hot water boiler to descale that too.

I don’t drink the tank water though, unless it’s been through the kettle.
