Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
Haven't been to a campsite for years so I have no idea about filling up our water tank.

What sort of tap connection is the most common on site. Threaded screw on job or push on and tighten with a wingnut?

And how long a hose is it best to have on board for filling up?

Advice please.

You need a long enough hose to reach around your motorhome in case the fillpoint is on the opposite side.

We have one those connector to join 2 hoses together. Very handy if on a rally when people join all their hoses together to fill everyone’s van up in the morning.

I only carry a shortish hose but a selection of connectors

Where did you buy it please
I paid £2 in a local B&M for our watering can to put water in at home. However, I leave home with about 20 to 30 litres in the tank and use a 5 litre water container to put more in on site. Not used a hose at all. (y)

Snap, although I think ours came from Wilko. ;)

But like you, I think the only time we have ever used a hose is where there was one already fitted to the tap and we could pull up alongside.

Also use a hose at home to quarter+ fill the tank before departure. (y)

I have a watering can but only 60Ltr tank as well as small hose that I rarely use
Watering can for me too. Travel with tank 25% full and fill up everytime we go to the facilities. Or just as and when. Got a hose but can be bothered with driving to tap when I’ve set up especially if I’m on levellers

A short hose of up to 5 metres should serve most motorhome service points, and take a selection of hose connectors! Although as per others in this thread, following the advice of the bible from https://www.vicarious-shop.com/coll...oks/products/go-motorhoming-and-campervanning I also just use a 10 litre standard plastic watering can, and just pour into the water fill up hole. So much easier than faffing with a hose, unless you are on a serviced pitch for a two week stay.

Thanks all.

Watering can it seems it will be.
20lt flexi bucket also works well - oh! With a funnel of submersible pump!

edit like this
We have a 12v outlet by the water filler so I bought our submersible pump in kit form. Like this, a plug and 2m of food grade tube

6m hose with a ¾" BSP fitting and a ½“BSP insert for Spain. Wilkinsons sell the brass hose kit. Took it with us once or twice but leave it at home now, travel with a full tank and top up with a watering can. Oh also bought a Chinese flat hose that works if you don't turn the tap on much.

My collection, includes a 20m roll flat hose (taken off the cassette) but only used that twice in 13 years.
Can't see the point of a watering can my vans got wheels and an engine.

I’ve got a smaller collect, but use very little of it.

If I’m all set up, nicely levelled and awning out, it’s far easier to use my collapsible funnel and 5 litre rigid water container to top up. ;)

This is an example of a Motorhome 12v plug, I think there’s a name

Are the related sockets common external power option on Motorhomes?
Our ‘at home’ solution’ is a hose and water filler havelock adapter.
On site we use the 20lt flexi water bucket as with our motorhome’s external 12v socket, using a submersible pump with the bucket is good for us. 🤪
On hand we’ve a funnel, tap adapters, etc.

You'll get a bit p'd off doing half a dozen trips to the tap everyday with a watering can! Two of us use about 40l each day and that's when we're trying to be frugal.

It been cleaned and sterilised and only used for putting in water whilst at home. I use a rigid 5 litre water container, which I purchased from a Co-op and continue to use it as a top up container.

I put sterilisation tablets into the water tank as well. (y)

Yes, hose definitely required there. We use about 10L a day.
