could someone explain why I was flashed by a speed camera on the N13 heading south from Cherbourg yesterday. The shown limit was 110 kpm and I was traveling at 87kph. The weather conditions were fine. Chris

I don't know that motorway but a couple of times I have seen a flash as I passed a speed camera when doing far less than limit and have actually downloaded dash cam footage to prove place speed and time but have not received a ticked so presume it was a reflection from the sun.
Perhaps that is what you saw. If you have a dash cam maybe you still have the video.

Thanks..... what’s the speed limit for French HGV on a dual carriageway signed at 110kpm then? 80kpm seems a bit slow

Depends on signage. Motorway we were on yestetday lorries were 80kph all the way with no overtaking 110 for us under 3.5 te

Its normally 90km/h unless there is a panel showing 80km/h with a 3.5tonne sign under it. Do you know that the limit on RNs for you has been reduced to 80km/h unless signalled otherwise?

Just done the same in Belgium last week.

70kph limit in built up area, set on cruise control at 67kph by SatNav readout. Camera flashed me as I went past.

I have downloaded dash cam footage just in case. However, a word of warning to others. As we were only away for five days I had not changed settings on the dash cam. It shows a time discrepancy of one hour and speed in mph. (Converts to 67.2kph).

We've been flashed loads of times on motorways where our speed limit is 110kph but trucks are 90kph.
Usually by those double cameras that seem to have one cam for cars and one above it for high vehicles. Once they see its a camping-car there is no further action.

Can't understand why you would be flashed at 87kph though if you were on a dual carriageway signed at 110kph. If you were over 90 it would explain it.

Richard.

Don't loose any sleep over it. YOu will most likely never hear any more about it. Has happen to me on several occasions.

Happens regularly if travelling on a Sunday, HGVs banned on road unless perishable goods till 20.00hrs

I started a thread on this last week as a number of us appeared to have been caught last year (Macron getting his money before Brexit with the GJ's having vandalised 60% of the cameras). Was flashed on the motorway a number of times without any further issues but it was on a country road I was caught and never even saw the camera. The fine was only £38 which is a bargain compared to the UK and obviously no points. :)
