And see nothing,,,On the N and D roads we see lovely towns and villages..We can finish at any time of the day we fancy. If we come across somewhere interesting and can park for the night then thats it. Only plan a rough destination but never an arrival date and regulary never get there .BUSBY.

Totally agree. I often set the satnav to 'shortest' rather than 'fastest' in the UK just to see where it takes us. Any trip I take starts as soon as we shut our driveway gate and I'm never in a hurry. Just couldn't resist making the smartarsed remark though :xgrin:.

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
I would think the majority on here care about the costs associated with their motorhome trips. Those that don't are very fortunate !

At 10mpg, if I drive very carefully, I'm past caring. :xrofl:

as usual you have taken the quote out of context, and not quoted my whole post which clearly indicated that we use toll roads because we have to.. i do not want to spend my hard earned holiday travelling from one end of the country to the other. i want to get there and i want to get there fast, and if that means paying a couple of hundred quid on toll roads then so be it.
each to there own but i dont get to spend 5-6 weeks away at any one time... not yet anyway :xgrin:

I see your upset ! I'm sorry you feel that way. However, I'm not aware it is normal for me to take posts out of context as you state in your post.
You stated 'The Cost is the cost, is the cost... who cares, I need to get to where I’m going fast, so. I can enjoy my well earned rest' and I replied 'I would think the majority on here care about the costs associated with their motorhome trips. Those that don't are very fortunate !. I see nothing wrong in my reply and stand by what I said.

Tried using the tolls once... Took exactly the same time to get down to Spain but cost us far more what with motorway fuel prices and tolls
N roads for us... As we aim to do 3-400 miles a day we have plenty of time, and somehow manage to find a slightly different route every time :-)

And you can use the lane marked 30KPH in these lanes you reduce your speed to 30kph for the toll and never stop. Used them when trucking and they really do save time and of course money and wear and tear of the vehicle.
That is the lane we used when joining the peage section at Boulogne.
Excellent, just slow down and drive straight through.
By the time the charge appears on the bank statement I will have forgotten about it.

Yes that has just jogged my memory. Most on here will ,I assume , be using these toll roads,"out of season" . Try it July & August, it is just the same as the M25 ..

If you've sat in a 17km queue just to get to the toll booths, 24 booths & all in use, as I ranted to my wife ," I don't pay to queue!!!"
The queue on the other side stretched 32 km. That's why the are upgrading them in many places beacsue you are paying to travle slowly.
Another time going to Germany it cost me far more to get from La Jonqurea to Mulhouse , about 850 kms than it did for Home to La Jonquera about 800kms.
I still have night mares of the 43km queue on the A71/75 I saw in July just down to sheer volume of traffic.

@gus-lopez you are sooo right. July and August we do traffic jams better than anyone else in Europe I suspect. Traffic circulation is colour coded green/yellow/red and BLACK. Black and it isn't worth going anywhere on the motorway network. I used to drive my truck from Toulouse back to Gemozac on the N and D roads even though both towns are right on the side of the motorway network, not even me who paid but cannot cope with traffic jams. Not always sunny here in France and our jar of honey still has the odd fly from time to time.
