Hi All,
Does anyone know which Sat now covers the South coast of France around Cap D'Age, Sete area?
We are just back and could not get any reception from Astra 28, nor could other Brit motorhomer's, however a few hours inland near Bergerac the reception from Astra 28 was fine.
Someone said that Sky have blocked the transmissions to the South of France and Spain as they want people to buy a sky box?? Really?!
Thanks
Jim

If you want UK channels it's still at 28E, but on the new satellite.

We could receive all Sky Channels in Martigues and Barcelona (Sports, Movies, Eurosport, BT Sport, Discovery, Nat Geo etc on the Sky Box, (with card) but BBC channels were hit and miss
depending on weather and time of day.
Ch 5 HD was fine, and we could get Ch 4 in SD.

They have just focused the beam more tightly over UK as that's where the UK signals are meant to be watched.

If you a bit of Googling you should find a map showing the coverage since The Great Change. In general terms coverage now runs out about halfway down France, although the zone sits at an angle. Unless you have the sort of huge aerial which is not practical on a MH younwont get BBC now in southern climes. Sky is different as it uses a different satellite and I understand is viewable further south but as I haven't found anything on Sky worth watching apart from game of thrones, now finished, this is not a solution for me.

We live in the Languedoc, South of France and since March when they did the final tightening of the new beam you need a minimum of 110cm dish. A friend of mine near Alacante still gets all FTA channels BBC etc with a 240cm dish not very practical on a Motorhome. The actual satellite is a little behind and to the east of 28.2E but because of the very low signal is very tricky to align to, if you have a non sky FTA box then you can get quite a few of the less popular Channels, Movies for Men etc. and Sky news is still available on the old satellite. Again if you have a non Sky box you can still get plenty of German channels which includes some quite juicy late night ones and BBC world on Hotbird, Google to find exactly which ones.

Thanks Guys, all very useful replies, and explains why we could only get Sky News on the South Med Coast on Astra 28, but all the usual channels popped back in as we travelled back North.
we don't have a Sky box, its more of a Freeview box with all the additional stuff!
