French border check

About 5 miles of queues on the A16 / E40 heading from Belgium into France midday today. French police checks of some sort at the border!
We saw lots of campers in the queue, luckily we were heading in the opposite direction.

Just out of interest did you go over today on the eurotunnel.

Had that last October, luckily it was on a Sunday so not many lorries or cars about.
We we’re just waved through at walking pace and there was a few cars and lorries pulled over for a check.

Did they take you up a slip road then back down again?

No, no slip road, they seemed to have barriers taking the road down to one lane then police checking the vehicles. We were going in the opposite direction, the queue was for several miles.

We’ve had that for last few trips now, take you off the A16 into a waiting area slow you down then pull you over if they want to, never been pulled yet tho

You can come off of the E40 at the De Panne turning, go into Adinkereke then a left at the roundabout onto the N39 that takes you to the D601 and Bray Dunes.
Probably better than sitting in traffic

Tbh CC we’ve never been in a queue through there, always been straight in, straight out

We have only come back this way once with the checkpoint after stopping off at Nieuwpoort for a walk around and some lunch.
Could see this road being a nightmare at rush hour or maybe they don’t carry it out then?

Think they do, the concrete delta blocks and signage have been there a good whilst now

For at least 3 years. They used to separate lorries and cars to, at peak times. Off peak you get waved straight trough.
