I've just despatched some of these horrendous France blind spot stickers to a customer.
To make them more ugly would be challenging.
They certainly don't enhance your vans looks.

Seen another site that shows them on the sides of vehicles as well as the rear, same site also said only required in Urban areas.
I won't be bothering.

You are correct - needed on the sides as well, and only in urban areas. There are two versions, one with a truck on, one with a bus on. According to the regs, motorhomes need the one with the bus on

The only urban area we travel through in France is Rouen and occasionally Orleans so I won't worry about it.

Definition​

The aire urbaine is built from France's nationwide interlocking administrative commune municipalities: when a commune has over 2000 inhabitants and contains a centre of dense construction (buildings spaced no more than 200 metres apart), it is combined with other adjoining communes fulfilling the same criteria to become a single unité urbaine ("urban unit"[2]); if an urban unit offers over 10,000 jobs and its economical development is enough to draw more than 40% of the population of a nearby municipalities (and other municipalities drawn to these in the same way) as commuters, it becomes a pôle urbain ("urban cluster"[3]) and the "commuter municipalities" become its couronne ("rim"[4]), but this only on the condition that the urban unit itself is not part of another urban cluster's rim. The aire urbaine is an urban cluster and its rim combined, or a statistical area describing a central urban core and its economic influence on surrounding municipalities.

Types of aires urbaines​

As of 2010, depending on their population and function, aires urbaines adopt the following secondary appellations:

• aires urbaines with more than 500,000 inhabitants and 20,000 official 'metropolitan-type jobs' are considered aires métropolitaines ('metropolitan areas')[5]
• aires urbaines with more than 200,000 inhabitants are considered grandes aires ('large urban areas')[5]
• aires urbaines centred around a 'pole' urban unit with 5,000 to 10,000 jobs (with at least 40% of the surrounding commune populations working there) are 'moyennes aires' ('medium urban areas').[6]
• aires urbaines centred around a 'pole' urban unit with 1,500 to 5,000 jobs (with at least 40% of the surrounding commune populations working there) are 'petites aires' ('small urban areas').[6]

Could easily put a s/a magnetic backing on but useless on anything other than a PVC.

It's only a vehicle and whether I'm rolling along the paths less trod or pulling a cork beside a tranquil river I'm not concerned in the slightest about how it looks.

How a sticker can save someone’s life I really do not know. If the halfwit on the bike can’t see the vehicle how will they see the stickers?

Just a thought. Do these stickers count as a modification of the vehicle? If they do who is going to pay increased insurance policy if there is one?

sadly glenn2926 having driven HGV 1 for many years I can tell you the "halfwits on bikes" will happily ride up the inside of an artic stopped at traffic lights with left hand indicators flashing to warn "stay away pillock" so a little, by comparison, motor home with a sticker on will not even register in their world.

I’ve had them down the side of my fire engine even when on blues. A sticker is not going to help.

I think it was 1st of Feb only applies to over 3500kg.

When i collect my moho from storage i have to do a lefthand turn on a double lane main road at traffic lights. I have lost count of the amount of idiots who try and beat you to the turn in . I now bridge both lanes to block them off. Dont think stickers will stop the problem, they need educating at the learning stage.

This new rule applies from January 1st, 2021 and is based on the French traffic act (Code de la route) R.313-32-1.

Could you put self adhesive magnetic tape on the A class / coachbuilt bodywork and then use magnetic stickers on those? , not ideal, but removable....

Possible but not successful. I've vinyl signwritten over 27 000 vehicles since 1979 and the times I've been asked for all sorts of combinations is unbelievable. The emergency services have tried everything on patrol cars, ambulance and fire engines. Most ideas are ideal in theory but don't survive long. Magnetic material is excellent but it has to adhere to a good surface. I've done many patrol cars with full magnetic designs.

I did wonder about the level of success. I guess full magnetic sign is OK in a PVC, but wind generated by travelling at speed will suck less well fixed signs off when travelling at speed.
