Hi Guys

I'm travelling to France next Friday (YAY!) to head down to the Alps for the TDF.

We are getting on the last tunnel at 11.20pm and will arrive in France at 1am local. We plan to drive an hour or 2 and stop at an Aire for some shut eye. We will be driving on the A26.

2 questions

1 . Whats the latest time you can enter an Aire?
2. Any recommendations for stops and hour or 2 from Calais?

Open to ANY advice! I have installed several apps - Park4Night, searchforsites, campercontact. I know from reading other posts these are the ones people use/recommend.

Looking forward to hearing your advice!

I would relook at my route because I have paying tolls ( and the need for an overnight Aire)
I would head for Bergues where you can turn up at that time of night without great hassle then continue down on that route via Luxembourg

I'd head for this wild camp, 2hr 17min without toll or 2hr on A26.

Turn up anytime, its beautiful, quiet and won't be full of loud Germans. We stayed there last week and considered it very safe.

I’m getting the midnight Eurotunnel departure in a couple of weeks and had considered driving for an hour and looking for an aire but the aire’s in the area I’m heading to are only small with less than 10 spaces. By the time I will get there it will be after 0130hrs.
I thought it unfair to be looking for a space and potentially having to move on to the next aire being July and busy, so I’m opting for Gravelines, which will be my first aire stop on this trip. Large enough to get a space and hopefully not to disturb others too much and then starting my journey the following morning.
I’m wanting least hassle as I will be on my own and want to avoid manoeuvring my 9m tag axle into a little parking space at 1 in the morning 😬

There's a small aire (49.952 3.235) just off the D1044 at Riqueval, a mile or two past Bellicourt about halfway between Cambrai and St Quentin. About 1 hour 40 mins according to ViaMichelin. Quiet and fairly likely to have space.

This is perfect. Will definitely look at this one.

anytime within reason

Just be mindful that others are asleep.

That and, the French and Germans get up at the crack of dawn, stand and chat at full volume outside your MH, not theirs !
Thanks for this. We are very mindful of disturbing others. We will literally just pull up, light the fridge and sleep!!
