you may joke, but my father took on a maintenance contract at a local bingo hall. somebody stole a toilet seat one evening. next day a good quality new one was fitted. that evening we took a call from the manager, asking why a new seat had not been fitted. somebody had only nicked the new one too.
another new seat was fitted of course but the thread on the bolts deliberately damaged to prevent removal. that one never got nicked again, although loads of other stuff did
