Just remember, "FREE" perhaps will not give you all the protection you may need.

In my life I have found.......not a lot for free!

I think it is just as good as the all singing Norton 360 I used last year and that was expensive

Avast consistently comes out best in independent tests of the free ones. Pretty much the worst is the free Microsoft one. I use avast and am quite happy with it, although there are some advertising messages.

None of them are quite as good as the better paid for products but in my view they are perfectly adequate for home / personal use - the paid for ones are often aimed at businesses which are more likely to be a serious target,

I don't know if this is any use to anybody, but I have always used Sophos anti virus software on our iMac, it's also free and we have never had any probs since 2010 when I bought the mac.
