I think we have made our minds up. We are offski.

however I am prepared to do 5 days Q and £400 for all the testing for a 28 day holiday. I hope to be able to do a 28 day holiday with no Q. We will stick to France.

We all have our different levels of what is acceptable. I will also consider using a one way ferry from Holland instead of coming back from France (even though I have paid for the tunnel return) should France go Amber + and Holland/Germany look to be in order and be Green/Amber. I am also prepared to run back quickly if we have had over a fortnight over there

I will be monitoring intently again on holiday.

Best of luck with your decisions

We are seriously thinking about taking the plunge, both double jabbed, confused though about everything we need to do now. Is there a definitive list somewhere or what is the best place to clarify the information so we get it absolutely right please? I am assuming France will be back to amber before then in my planning.

We could write a definitive list and change it every day.

My understanding of situation at present is.
For double jabbed and France only. Fill out a couple of forms prior to leaving. No test required. Coming back atm, 10 euroish test in France and book a day 2 and day 8 test with 10 day Q which can be brought down to 5 days (Sundays permitting) for a grand total of about 400 nicker.

Should France go amber (looking more likely) at the point of your return, the same pieces of paper need filling out for the way out and the 10 euro test for double jabbees on the way back and probably a form or 2

This situation is how I understand it with a month to go for me and has every opportunity to change.

If you accept the worst case scenario then getting it better is a plus point from my point of view.

Once it gets closer to what would seem a whole bunch of people running the gauntlet of France at the start of September I ll start a thread monitoring changes somewhat similar to guinea pig thread and Germany info sharing threads from last year where we try to help each other out with permanently changing info

I just got back yesterday and am starting my 10 days- I work from home so it is no real great hardship.

I would recommend anyone going to France to download the Tousanticovid app (it is the French equivalent of the NHS app) You can then upload your vaccine QR codes- as of the 1st August?? they will be requiring proof of vaccination to enter bars/ restaurants. There is talk that they will accept the NHS vaccine certs, but I am on a French second home owners group and there are instances where the NHS cert was not accepted at some places (leisure centres and a golf event) So for peace of mind I now have their app

According to The Times this morning, 'England is poised to reopen its borders as soon as next week by allowing fully vaccinated travellers from the EU and US to enter without quarantining, The Times has been told.'

you left off "as long as the country is amber" , if amber +, shades of amber ,etc = quarantine

We are now at Roscoff now which we have been recommended, not been in yet. Also worth going to St Malo as it’s a lovely place and a bit quieter than normal. Aire there too.

Ferry's been booked for 3 weeks now. Off on August 15th with no return booked so we'll see what comes to.Both retired so no issues on quarantining if required. Plan is to travel to the Med coast eventually and on into Spain with the option of returning from there or meandering back through France depending on the situation.MH interior spring cleaned today and we're all set.Might go earlier if I can persuade SWMBO to do so.

I have to agree with this. St Malo shocked us as I was expecting the UK equivalent of a northern working port. It is really lovely. We motorbiked in from Dinan which is similarly very nice

Roscoff is lovely too, though quite small. Try the pink onions, easy to cut, minimum crying ;-)

My local aire at Locomarlo in Port Louis is very good , €12 with electricity and a view over the Petite Mare du Gavré

We love St Malo, the municipal campsite there isn't too shabby either.

I don’t mind quarantine, but why oh why have I got to pays for tests day 2 and 8 as well, complete rip off
I totally agree! We were due on the train tomorrow night but i'm not paying for the tests to come back. What's wrong with the NHS tests we do atm?
Oh, wait a minute, we don't have to pay for them 🤬

Think we've made up our minds and staying put ..Not paying for more tests to come home and risk Spain going darker orange ish .

So if anyone wants a ticket for Dover to Calais on the 3rd let me know.. 😔
