We are booked on the Tunnel for a day trip on the 4th April for one of our biannual trips to try to ease the problems caused by the European excess wine lake.
Not sure of the situation regarding shopping in Cite Europe or whether we would be able to eat either there or at theTunnel Terminal.
Any input from Funsters appreciated. Thanks

Unless it changes as I understand it the border is closed.

As a lot of people are having trouble just to get back to the uk I feel that you may have to revaluate if it will be possible to even do what you are suggestin. However it may be all right by the 4th April but I doubt it.

What part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office INSTRUCTION do you not understand.

It states that you SHOULD NOT leave the country, unless ESSENTIAL.

Is going on a BOOZE CRUISE ESSENTIAL. ??????????????

That's what I expected. So the follow up is is that a reason for refund?
Thanks alk

If you’re on the tunnel, it’s straightforward to modify your booking, to a date up to a year from when you originally booked. No charge, other than if it’s a dearer crossing. And you can then alter it again, if you need to .
I don’t think you’ll get a refund, but if you go twice a year, what’s the problem?
It can be done online, so no need to ring the call centre.

the wine might be infected .... if so can you get a couple of bottles for the MiL please?

Sorry, this is nothing to do with the topic, but sometimes I see a black dustbin icon on posts, and the OP has one. It looks like a ‘like’ but isn’t one of the available ones. It presumably has negative connotations? This one has apparently been added by Emmit - does anyone know what this is?

If it’s a way of saying that you think a post is rubbish, I would find that useful on occasion ;)

its says 'popcorn ready' - referring to sitting back and waiting for the responses that are sure to come !!! it can be quite enjoyable reading responses, i think we need a 'pulls out hand grenade pin and stands well back ' emoji !!

Hi gus yes getting there had a good night and no coughing as yet thanks for asking

OK, I see the popcorn option now, just after the star. Hard to see as I use the “dark” theme!

If you come, bring toilet paper, masks, soap or hand sanitiser worth much more than money. If you can bottle "common sense" there seems to be a huge shortage at the moment

You should not even attempt it!

As i understand, the only thing open at Cite Europe is Carrefour and you need a French Gov movement permit to actually go there and you have to go alone, The gov advice on non essential travel means that you are either entitled to a full refund or eligible to claim on any in force insurance

What makes you think that we have more of that over here? On the contrary!

Mick

never for one minute thought any common sense would come out of GB at the moment, just thought, maybe, there may still be a little somewhere.

I fear for GB, either Bozza knows something the rest of the world is ignorant too, or he is playing free and easy with your health and safety. If his plan for no clamp down works he will be applauded from the rooftops, if it goes wrong, the piles of bodies may well be up to the very same rooftops. I hope it is the former.

You shouldn’t be going anywhere!

Nobody should be going anywhere!

...........

Unless it is absolutely essential. That’s ESSENTIAL, in case you’re not sure:rolleyes:

ChrisSue - I feel for you!
My advice (based on me being a smug git who did the wine run on Friday, just before this all kicked off) is to stay at home. It's just far too risky even for a day trip.
By the way, I get my wine from Calaiswine - they have keen prices and if you buy £250's worth then you get a return day trip on the tunnel for free....
Stay safe and well.
Bill
