It may not be good news but it's slightly (by 23 minutes) old news. ;)

I saw this yesterday, and disregarded it, the chances are the way case's are rising we will be on their red list before they are on ours.

Different variant of Covid.
The concern is that France seems to be riddled with the South African variant which hasn’t yet found a foothold in the U.K.
Not good news.

Richard.

I read France was about to go on the green list yesterday 😂

I wish neighbouring countries would talk to each other. One week we can go out but not come back, next we can't go out but can come back, next France will let us in but the U.K. says we can't leave, then France won't allow us in but the U.K. says we can go and now the U.K. may soon be marking France red.
Confused? Me?
They couldn't make it up as they went along................or could they

They really should give more notice. They must have a cut off which triggers the red listing so surely they could give a weeks notice.we got caught out last year and couldnt return in time had to isolate. We are booked to go to France a week yesterday bit concerned now. Is Spain any better ?

it s a nonsense. Its about time we saw some evidence of methodology

Not booked anything yet but i am rapidly losing hope that a biggish Euro trip i have been planning for the start of Sept is going to happen.

Ah well as we say in Lanchashire, "That's the way the mop flops". I hear Skegness and Hull are nice in Sept

My concern is lack of information about transiting a county. Would feel better if I knew I could get back.

My biggest issue is you go to a green/amber country and it changes to red and you maybe 3/4 days away to getting home.
Experienced that forced hotel quarantine, don't want to do it again, not nice at all.

From the most recent figures I can find for beta variant France has had (in total) 2,053 cases for its 65 million residents
Belgium 1004 for 11.5 million
Germany 2,185 for 84 million
Luxembourg 745 for 636,000
UK 808 for 68 million.

NB these figures are up to a month out of date but they do show it is far more prevalent in some countries than France (based upon the figures available)

This morning s screen shows the 2 posts about France above each other, 1 speculating that France is about to go green, the other red.

Joined up thinking? Not

Where are you now? Hope you are having a great time, I think we are not going to cross into France until someone makes their mind up which list France is going on,

We've just travelled up from capbreton to coulon so about 230 miles. Just getting a bit closer in cases Boris pushes the button but we want to be back in the next week to 10 days anyway. I think if we were just going out now we would plan to go out and stay out until it changes back, could be back and forth twice by then the way they're going. Following the science ? Yeah sure!

This evening on the Eddie Mair show LBC, it was suggested the government were considering adding France to the red list over fears of the inability to provided quarantine accommodation for the expected number of Brits returning from summer holidays, if and when covid numbers increase in France.

I honestly can't believe some of this blame game

I imagine the Governments of all the countries on this continent are mad busy, with dozens of balls in the air.

We are at the beginning, hopefully now in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. If you can't stay home and want to venture abroad, thats great, have a good time. But it's no one's fault but your own if changes from a Government catch you out, messes your plans here or there. Expect them to change at a moment's notice, because they will. If it leaves you in a hole it's no ones fault but yours.

There seems to be a pattern developing here with the UK government finding Variants that no other country or the WHO can find as they did a few weeks ago with another variant no one had heard off or even existed.
'Have a staycation' help the economy seems to be the rally cry.
The cynical nature of all this is getting.on my nerves I don't believe for one minute there is a variant that can bypass the current vaccines.
But let's all stay at home live in our island prison because it's too dangerous to leave the country.
Oh Please! give me a break😡

Watched France 24 news channel last night, this was a featured item.
The scientist interviewed stated that the Covid in France was the beta variant and the U.K which had a very low level of this variant would not wish it to come in.
However the Delta variant is a lot more transmitted than the beta variant, therefore the delta variant will win and the beta variant will disappear.
So we have no problem as Europe will experience the delta variant in the next few weeks and it will be dominant strain.

Do you think you will be able to park your Motorhome in a red list hotel car park😂😂
