Going out for a couple of weeks soon before end of October!!! Does anyone have a France passion book/ card they are not using again this year they would be willing to part with, fancy trying something different. Willing to pay and or postage costs. Not sure if they go by van number plate though.
Thanks

Would it not be simpler to just buy one - only €30 (£27 or so), and it would probably cost you £10 on postage if someone was going to lend you theirs (postage going both ways) along with the hassle of going to post office etc?

And of course you get your very own copy on which you can then spill wine and cheese on :-)

I know it's late in the year now so won't get a lot of use, but they are really worth having , we get one everyother year on the basis that, very rarely does anyone ask for the card , just glad to have the chance of selling you something (y) and they won't have changed much in a year.
We have one this year and haven't used it yet but it will get some hammer next month all being well.
For seeing real France they can't be beaten.

We get one every other year so this year we have done a lot of france.
I have only ever been asked to produce the card twice. Both at the same place, the unbelievably fantastic truffle orchard at a lavender farm about 3 kms north of Lac de St Croix.

If youre going to Loire valley or Alsace then if they were to turn you away there will be another 400 yards down the road. The temptation not to bother and wing it is great considering the time of year and (in my view) understandable reticence on spending money for not great value.

Let us know where youre thinking of going and some of us might be able to give you the heads up on FP sites in that area

We have found that a lot of the places let anyone park anyway ,as long as they are selling you something they aren't bothered.
It's just knowing where they are.

This was our very first passion 10 years ago now , fruit farm and we never saw a soul, completely deserted.

I wouldn’t bother we were never asked for confirmation that we had current membership . As long as you purchase something you will be more than welcome to stay but you may come across a jobsworth who sticks by the rules.

Top Tip for FP; if the FP has anything to do with livestock don’t choose it because without doubt you will be bombarded with flys, where there’s livestock there’s Fresh Shi7, Old Shi7,Dried Shi7 and flys.

Seconded! We ended up parked in the back yard of a goose farm. Sounds, sights, and smells of geese being force fed ;-)

Home from home for us, they are just the ones we make for but we did go to a horse place in the camargue, and just had to move , it was total flys  :(

Hmm, had thought about that, I gave one away a few years ago, just thought that this might be the last time we go to France for a while as we take a dog also. trouble is without the map/book I don't know where any are, we never book anywhere and where we go depends on the weather. We get to Calais and go left middle or right

If you have maps.me bung me your phone number in a private message and I believe i can send them to you on a map which you then download onto your phone. I have 10,000 or so aires on there as well if youre interested.

Hmmmm? I used it one year and cost a fortune because they hassled us to buy..
So you're sayif you'd rather stay at the back a restaurant and pay through the nose for a mediocre meal is the real France. Hmmmmmm interesting. Perhaps I've not seen the real France then?

We only used 2 when we had FP a couple of years ago. Neither of which pestered us at all. At the vineyard we actually had to ask for a tasting! Cost us 11 Euros for 2 bottles so no more expensive than some aires!

The other place we stayed was a goat farm, again didn't try to sell us anything but we bought some cheese which we absolutely loved and wished we'd bought more. Cost us 10 Euros.

We didn't have to buy at either place but we decided to as neither where nowhere near a village/ town so wouldn't have spent in the area if we hadn't bought anything and we do try to spend something when we stay at an Aire if if it free or only a couple of Euros.

You have not found any of the good ones then, thing is there are that many as well as Aires everywhere, if you don't like the look of one, just move on there will be another down the road.
We have been on maybe 50 or more and never felt under any pressure to buy anything, in fact most of them you have to really hunt to find anyone.

Tbf, tried 3 one year and they were all out of the way, miles from anywhere and cost more than Aires. The places looked alright but, unlike Aires, we were the only people there which suits a lot of people of course but I'd rather there be a couple of Mohos around.
There may be arguments for trying more but I'm not as I'm happy with the Aires etc and Brit Stops in this country

I'm guessing it means that you don't have to buy the book?

We stayed at a farm a few months ago because we actually wanted to buy some goats cheese.

We had to go and look for the farmshop, no one hassled us at all, not even sure if it was a France Passion site or not.

It was on Search for Sites.

Must agree on this point, the restaurant ones are not the best and we don't use them as we don't use restaurants much anyway, and they can be very expensive, no, give us a pitch in an empty vineyard or field on any sort of farm.

Tbh we don’t use restaurants much and go out of our way usually to find a little used aire, we now have our favourites. The FP sites we used in the past were really out of the way for us which is why we gave it away. Thanks everyone for your input, will definitely look at the search for sites app, thanks Chaser. Happy holidays.

have joined search for sites, looks okay, but did not see any France passion sites, maybe not putting correct information to search for these sites.

It has to be the paid for app, but if you download it you get so long of free version without paying.

Maybe we’re mugs. Buy several kilos of cheese from these places and wine by the case from vineyards.

I guess we don’t need to buy the book! We will use an old one and then pay our way. Sure, aires are cheaper...
