Thinking about buying 960 of these for £6,000 making them £6.56 each and offering to sell them to you all for £50 just so that I can help you all out.

How many of people going that would make this a viable option for someone to do and flog them at a reasonable £20 which gives someone enough money to make a bit and everyone else to save an amount ?
Nope ! It would not work. Antigen testing kits are free in the UK. What your paying for is a paper or a digital document from a recognised testing authority showing you had a negative result that you can show to border staff. Its the same test you get for free.

I am getting mixed messages over travel insurance. Nationwide are telling me now that they will cover medical expenses due to Covid even though the FCDO site is advising 'against all but essential travel', but should the advice become 'against all travel' this will not be covered. So France is ok at the moment.
This afternoon I received an email which tells me that Staysure will not provide cover for advice 'against all but essential cover' but could sell you an add-on that would.

If your flight can still go ahead and you’ve decided to travel, then you might still be able to go with valid travel insurance.

The colour of the traffic light system does not tell you whether your travel insurance will be valid. You need to check the Foreign Office (FCDO) advice for this.

At the minute, the FCDO do not advise against travel to Portugal. This means your travel insurance to Portugal will be valid, but if this changes to advise against ‘all but essential travel’, you’ll need to make sure you add on extra cover…

European FCDO Travel Advice Extension

Our European FCDO Travel Advice Extension add-on allows you to travel with cover, even when travelling against FCDO advice. So, you can visit countries like Spain with valid travel insurance.

But Nationwide do not seem to need to offer this add-on as they cover on a normal policy. I think I'll ask Nationwide to send me written confirmation of what I've been told and whether there might be a problem if the advice changed while policyholders were abroad. At least if one buys with Staysure and purchases an extra add-on then that might still be valid whatever the FCDO advice.
Can I ask those of you who don't have 'specialist policies' what your policy providers are saying.

Won't be ok to use for a trip abroad, if that's what you mean?, it's the way the test is recorded, ie by another licenced/approved/ whatever the term is, as i understand it, test fine, recording of result not.

That's the plan, earliest boots appointment for tests 10.30am, but thats in the next town to us, so, figure 11.30am done at boots, 30 mins drive home, collect the van, setting off 12-12.15pm.
212 miles to the eurotunnel, i'm guessing 31/2 hrs, arriving 4.45pm ish, no waiting, straight on to booking in and passport control,no idea how long that will take, hopefully 1/2 hr or so, so maybe boarding 5.15pm ish, arriving in france 5.50pm ish, 18.50 their time, if all that goes remotely to plan i will be very happy.
Arriving M25 4-ish. Friday! Good luck. We were due to go today, needed a Covid test, so delayed the booking, this morning the main battery expired in the car park. Got a jump start, went to Halfrauds, didn't have a battery that large, so had to drive to Frome for the next store. So now we're going on Friday morning. Luckily we'll be on the M25 a little earlier, about 11.30. But at least we got the battery sorted before then, instead of a no start in the morning. Last September when we went for the tunnel, we called in at Tesco for last minute stuff, when I went back to the van, I could see water pouring out of the side door, swmbo sitting there oblivious, like Queen Vic! The onboard water tank connector had broken at the base, 80 litres or so of water pouring over the floor and under the door. Managed to clean it up, drove over to the only dealer we knew of on theway to Folkstone who kindly fixed it for us, and we were only 2 hours late for the tunnel. All part of the fun!!

France travel advice

Change made:
The health situation in France remains severe. A national curfew is in place from 11pm to 6am, during which an attestation (self-certified document) is required to leave home. Attestations are available on the French Interior Ministry website and through the ‘Tous anti-Covid’ digital app. There are no internal travel restrictions in France. From 9 June, indoor hospitality and sports venues are reopening. You can find information and guidance from the French government regarding the current outbreak of coronavirus disease COVID-19 in France on the French government’s COVID-19 pages (See *Coronavirus’ page)

Something very similar happened to us. We had stopped off in Dorset for a couple of days, to see friends, before going straight to tunnel. As is our custom, I stayed outside giving the van and the pitch the once over for things left undone whilst husband moved it off, saw water pouring out underneath. A pipe to the washroom sink had come adrift. Actually, thinking about it, not sure which orafice of the PVC it was coming out of? It was behind the fridge so maybe a drop vent. One visit to a friendly caravan dealer and the use of their John Guest cutters, new piping and the use of their forecourt, and only one day late for the tunnel. Wanted to stay to check no leaks as it was the first time we had fixed any plumbing.

Hope you are successfully off today and have a great trip. Will catch up in August 🙂

Tables and chairs cleaned every time customers change.Masks not required once sat down but we wear ours when ordering and keep them on until food or drink is served. Have noticed like in UK hand washing is not adhered to as much as it was entering and leaving supermarkets.Very quiet everywhere during week days.BUSBY.

Our plan is to get to Greece. Germany closed the door as did France. It looks like at the moment, when things open a bit that we will need tests for several countries. What a game.

I've had to postpone Greece two years on the trot because of Covid. Hopefully third time lucky next May. I think you should be alright travelling through all E.U. countries once you have entered as freedom of movement is still a major aspect of E.U. travel.

I don't think it's anything to do with the test itself, it's more likely to be to do with the process. Having just done a Lateral Flow Test for attendance at an event here's the steps:

1. Get a free kit
2. Carry out the test
3. Go onto the Government website and put in your details including the unique test kit number
4. Add your positive or negative test result
5. Receive an email or text from the Government website confirming your test result
6. Show the email or text confirming that you tested negative for Covid to whoever needs to know it

Hardly a robust process for people to be able to show that they are free from Covid is it?
How do you show the gov . site if it’s pos or neg ??

I'm aiming to go on the 20th June now. Was meant to be this week but got caught out by the last rule change. Lets hope the rules don't change before then!
And as I write this I can see the Cherbourg peninsula out if the ferry window to my right hand side. Steaming towards Caen for a 2pm arrival.

Was a 2.30 am start from Cheshire as in the car not the Hymer.

£60 test from Boots in Manchester yesterday morning and proof of double vaccination and we speed thru check-in. The customs/security check area was full of vehicles being looked over - we were waved through as we look proper respectable!

Let’s see how it has changed at Caen.

I usually take this boat every other month but this is the first time since Oct 2019.

It feels nice to escape from the Island!!!

So I CAN GO TO FRANCE NOW.
JUST NEED A £59 TEST

Travellers who are fully vaccinated do not need an essential reason to travel to France and do not need to self-isolate on arrival. Fully vaccinated travellers will need to present the following documents:

those travelling aged 11 years old or over, will need evidence of a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of departure, or a negative antigen test result taken within 48 hours of departure
a completed ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying they are not suffering from symptoms associated with coronavirus and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight. This can be found on the French government’s website
proof of vaccination status.
Demonstrating your COVID-19 vaccination status
If you live in England, France will accept the NHS app or your NHS letter to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination status. If you live in Scotland or Wales, France will accept your respective NHS letter to demonstrate your COVID-19 vaccination status. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

It's probably me being thick (no comments please) but if you remain totally anonymous using the NHS app, how do you get your vaccination status downloaded? I can't even find a mention of vaccines on my app or is there another one?

it is the NHS APP not the track and trace one, you need to log in with your NHS Number and you can connect to your surgery for appointments etc.
