FRANCE ON THE CARDS

Looks like France will be open for fully vaccinated from 9th June.........

Crucial thing is "no compelling reason required"
Not sure - as far as I can tell, France remains on the amber list with the govt "advice" being you should not travel to amber list countries.

On top of that, there's a whole world of admin grief to follow when you get back. It's all here:

Do children children need to be vacccinated to travel? ive had my 2 jabs and my wife goes this week for her 2 nd.

No mor grief than last year minus the tests

as i read it last night it was 1 of 3 qualifications:

1) had both jabs
2) had C19 already
3) had a negative PCR

In all cases backed up with official docs

We just got our attestation for jab 1 this morning, can also be on your vaccine card as that qualifies i was told

i believe they are required at 18yrs onwards

Info in the Daily Mail - France to allow vaccinated Britons in without quarantine from 9 June - next Wednesday:

Yes, it will still be on the UK Amber list and all that implies.

Or on the other hand nothing for me on the way out UK as to actually get in we have to do it first.
Lateral flow tests are free from the NHS. When conducted, results can be submitted to Government website. And an official email is sent back to you confirming negative result (assuming that's what it is ;) ).
Yes but as the medical personell refused flying the other week was told " the fact that you are tested daily & are negative does not mean you can use those tests supplied foc as a means to travel"
"the ONLY test acceptable is one which YOU HAVE PAID FOR"

Which just goes to show it is all about the money

I'm sure i read no NHS tests.
Guardian Live Blog at 10:35 today:
'
Vaccinated visitors from “orange” countries — including the US and Britain — will no longer need to quarantine on arrival and will no longer have to justify the reasons for their trip to France. They will, however, still be asked for a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours or a negative antigenic test of no more than 48 hours.

Unvaccinated children will be allowed in with vaccinated adults.'

There is nothing to stop a lateral flow test being carried out by someone and adding the results to someone else's name, giving a false result. Aren't the paid for ones done with a bit more scrutiny of identity?

I'm aiming to go on the 20th June now. Was meant to be this week but got caught out by the last rule change. Lets hope the rules don't change before then!

Before anyone sets off check out the thread on motor insurance where a country is on our amber list. France is still amber for us.

But France with more cases and UK, UK won't allow it....

What will be the position for visitors to France from Portugal & Spain.
We have our 2nd AZ jabs at the end of July and if we can't get back to the UK without testing/isolation then we would like to get back to our static caravan in France for a while in August and maybe the UK after that.
I realise everything may change but just wondering what the situation will be in France if their plans stay the same.

If youre double jabbed you can go into France from where you are after 9th June, is my understanding at the time of writing, you will then have to abide by Amber regulations of UK in order to enter UK

So how and where does one go to get these tests and the two-jab certificate?
I'm confused even though I've read this thread and Googled info and found a range of private companies offering the PCR test from between £59 and £179 and yet the Gov't website says free kits can be obtained by post from the NHS. Since the postal test would have to be done and sent off to the lab within 72 hours of planned departure one will have to take the chance that the results (and presumably a certificate) are delivered back in time to still be valid when used upon entering France within 72 hours of the test date.
I assume the results are sent by post or to an iPhone which I don't have or want, although Chris might lend me his as he won't be going there.

I think I'll settle for Margate this year.

Fill yer boots. You can do what you want as a portugese resident. Only need a pcr & that might have changed to the lateral flow now? You can enter & wander at will as a permanent EU resident.

He is a resident so can go when he wants & basically where he wants entering from an eu state.

It's the testing thing, if I need a pcr then not going.

What's the score on insurance, both vehicle and travel?
