Was planning our first overseas Motorhome trip to Normandy, Brittany and down the West Coast of France to La Rochelle in July this year.

Just however found that French Schools breakup on 2nd July.

Does anyone have experience of this area in July - is it like a madhouse ?

Also if anyone has recommendations for place near La Rochelle for a 4/5 night stay would be welcomed

15th july to 15th august is a madhouse everywhere, peak season , first half of july is regarded as mid-season

the population of our tiny village doubles peak season

go to paris , you should be able to camp under the eiffel tower then !

They are a lot of campsites in that area, you should have no trouble finding pitches on sites or a place on an aire. About an hour N of La Rochelle there is a fantastic aire at Talmont St Hilaire and a lovely cheap campsite at Port Bourgenay. Ille de Re worth a visit too.
Have a lovely time
