Due to the ongoing protests against pension age changes there are now issues with fuel shortages in France. Refineries are being blockaded.

If you are travelling through France or will be doing so shortly make due allowance.

The government website https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/recherche/map is updated daily and shows availability at petrol stations.

The situation varies from region to region, with the south-east being particularly affected. Some refinery workers are being legally compelled to work to load road tankers for fuel deliveries to filling stations. In many départements, prefects have decreed rationing at filling stations.

Oh no, not again.
Had the same shortages last October, ended up paying 2 euro a litre from wherever it was available, usually small local garages

I travelled last Autumn during the strikes in Northern France for a week. Painful. Now on third day travelling from Calais to Spain. Fuel was all good until we got near Marseille. Now most fuel places are empty. We should have filled at every opportunity but thought the issue was less severe.

Just managed to get to almost full with two €50 fills at same automated station (used two cards!)

Now back on track but wondering about return in 15 days. Perhaps look at ferry from northern Spain. But with two dogs, not ideal.

My advice in travelling - fill at every opportunity.

Filled up today at Intermarche in Le Manche region. No sign of any shortages or rationing, in fact there was a ginormous tanker offloading into the local tanks.

Yep I've alway filled up on pit stops if around 1/2 tank you never know in France.

Same as you early August last year on return filled up tank at Jaca and also 66L in 2 aux cans.

Up through France expecting the worst and found it at my usual places, sods law. And still on French at the mo.

Enjoy your travels

Follow the news on French pension strikes and blockades. In short term it may get worse. Can’t see Macron crippling economy for too long.

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
We are about to board the ferry at Newhaven (on the correct day this time) as we went through the passport control, we were stopped to check gas was turned off, which isn't unusual, however she then asked if we were carrying 'extra fuel' as vehicles were being checked on arrival into France .... How true that is, I have no idea. I guess we'll see in a few hours ...

Fuel at all services on A9 but restricted to 30 litres. A bit of a short term hit on bank balance at they pre authorised €150. As was a high of 2.22 per litre.

Arrived at Dieppe this afternoon and drove to Fecamp - seemed to be no shortages of fuel and queues were what I would expect on a Friday afternoon. Don't know if they're rationing and didn't see any signs suggesting it was.

French customs weren't interested if we were carrying extra fuel as intimated they would be by UK ferry staff ....another 'none story' !!

Reported fuel shortages in France and now early season fires in Spain.
It's all happening
