Where is best to go in France for D day. A few years ago we were in Arromanches and they put a concert on with 40s dress and a singer in stage singing all those 40s songs, it was brilliant.
Also recommend sites or Aires please?
Can't remember the site we stayed at and cycled into town.

I recon it will be rammed with people and very difficult to get a place to park anywhere near the main events this year but if you don't try you won't know.

A lively place will be the Village of St Mer Eglise as I know they have huge celebrations on D Day. Aire 95 All the Aires Book really convenient but as already stated all places will be very busy.

Near Sword Beach Aire 80 All the Aires Book at Hermanville. Aires at Juno Beach Numbers 82 and 84 also Aire 87 overlooking the remains of Mulberry Harbour and Overlord Centre.

Utah Aire 97 also in All the Aires Book.

Hope the above is some use to you.

I wouldn't worry about where to stop there is always somewhere D Day week we have done it a few times.

We were there for the 70th Anniversary I expect this year will be similar. On the cliff top at Arromanches they opened up a couple of large fields for motorhomes there were over 300 vans there all free of course. The British Army came in with landing craft, you could paddle out and get on them. Arromanches is probably one of the busiest places.

At St Mer Eglise they made the Aire free and opened up a big field next to it, even had a tractor standing by when it got muddy.

At Carentan they have a D Day dance on Saturday night, be warned the French dance Char char char to swing music, we collected an audience dancing Lindy Hop. they open up loads of extra parking for Motorhomes. Big parade on Sunday with all the vehicle parking in the town square afterwards.

Merville Batterie they do a reenactment, not brilliant but loads of flash bangs, get there early and you can park for the night.

Also on the 70th instead of the towns having there firework displays on different nights they had all the towns set off identical displays at the same time. We were on the cliff top at Arromanches it was a amazing we could see 15 display all in perfect sync.
