off the ferry around 4pm a week tomorrow in Calais, plan to head south on A26. Any ideas for an overnighter and then areas to explore. Maybe Ardeche area?

There's a choice of aires within 20 minutes or less of the ferry terminal.

The popular choices to overnight are usually Calais port, Gravelines or Wissant depending on which direction you are heading.

Ardeche, try municipal campsite Zamenhof. right on the river next to camping chauvieux. ideal to pick up a hire canoe to go down the river under the famous arch

That's a fabulous canoe trip. Well worth doing the full length. Gets quite exciting along the gorge in places!

Wish you told me before I went, took an early bath just before the arch, but still here to tell the tale ( gets exaggerated each time)

Thanks all, I've read about Zamenhof, thanks Fidget. Might head down that way, then back up through Loire. Any advice on the Spring Bank bank holiday at the end of May? Are places likely to be real busy?
