A question maybe for DBK ?

I've been reading on another forum that to book a CCP site for today / this evening you to have a Privilage Pass at a cost of 29.99 euro.
I just wondered if anyone had experience of this.
I did a dummy booking and it seemed like it would let me book for tonight, but obv didn't actually press book.
I've received my card and I'm planning on using it next month but as I don't plan very far in advance it might be a nusiance not being able to book the same day.

To "book" a pitch you have to pay for the privilege the standard card does not allow that.
This time of year only the most popular sites will be near to full.

I have never found it necessary to book. I do check on the app though where it tells you how many pitches are occupied. It costs extra to use the booking service

Looking at the app there seem very few that are full, so I guess when I'm there in September it'll be even less busy, so no need for the privilage pass (y)

We've never booked either. We don't know where we're going to be until shortly before we stop so definitely no need to book! If we don't like the look of a place we don't stay and move on to another aire - not necessarily CCP.

That reminds me I still haven’t received my card. How long do they take to arrive ?

I wouldn't rely on a booking anyway as we have sometimes found that vacant spaces are blocked by motorhomes spreading out so that it isn't possible to fit the full number of vans into the aire.

The only time we have booked in advance was for proof of accommodation for Schengen visa purposes. For that we had to buy the privalages addition.

Having spent at least 10 trips to CCP we just use the app to see how booked up they are. At no time have we needed to book in advance.

I have the privages pack this year but I've only used it once to book over a Bank Holiday. This was useful as the site was full over the weekend.

It isn't essential but if you want to stay several days at a specific place it is a help.

Don't forget you are not supposed to stay more that 3 days at a CCP aire if you don't have the privileges pack. How they enforce this remains a mystery but if anyone has experience of the consequences please let us know. :)

We have stayed over a week at a CCP aire without paying for the privilege thingy. No problem.
Incidentally when we bought our first card it took so long to come we went away without it. Just got a new card from the machine at the first place we came to.

I bought mine online on the 9th of August with my Revolut card, took 2 goes and it has just arrived in the post today. We’re off on an organised tour of Italy shortly and might extend it at the end of September and come back up through France. Might not but anyway we’ll have have it for our next trip to France next year.

We tried to stay in CCP on our way back to the Ferry this year, trust us to pick one of the few where you couldn’t buy a card. Mind you the machine in the one next to the proper campsite at Amboise was broken for the 5 days we stayed there so many frustrated campers there as well.

This is why we decided to buy before we travelled. The P&P was about €6.
