I was thinking of having a little tour with Max not too far from home and was wondering if any Funsters would be around for the French festivities. I bet a lot will be around Carcassonne what about the others?.
Anyone in France and around Midi Pyrénées for the 14th of July?

Gulp........can't believe I had a mental block and forgot it was Bastille Day ! Just sprinted to my diary to see where we were thinking of being on that day. Luckily for us, we are booked already for the days around 14th and won't be attempting to drive anywhere.....phew :p

We are scheduled to drive back to Parc Verger from Ile D'Oleron that day! Is there a reason we should not?

Lots of people will converge towards the best places of the country for fireworks but this doesn't mean you won't have festivities in the smallest villages. On the contrary they might have a street meal and ...most of the time it means that traffic will be either stopped (other routes proposed ) or it will be slow and very busy. They like to have "bal musette" in the little villages and drink to the 14th of July.... You might even hear this song "Dansons la carmagnole , vive le son , vive le son, Dansons la carmagnole, vive le son du canon!!"... and if they put costumes on , then you'll be going back years ago......

Over here at last after a 6 hour night drive and sat nav dying at a critical point along the M25 ending up at a massive bridge in Dartford with tolls where a nice english man helped us get back on course we got to Dover at 5am so couple of hours kip at Waterloo cres and onto the ferry. Then off to Cite Europe for Gazol n a bit of a nose around the shops till we realised its Sunday and every things shut ! Low on diesel we abandoned plan A to Peronne and headed a short way to the Aries at Arques behind a camp site ( all the Aries book page 437 item 78) trying the 24 hour self serve Gazol at Carrefour on route but even with help of a friendly french guy it would`nt accept Fx card or a couple of others i tried ! so sods law at the Aries above we were told " is closed because of fire !"
I enquired at the site for a pitch instead and so agreed a night or two here for the Bastille day tomorrow to be over before finding a manned garage for fuel and heading south. Bonus we just found out there is a concert, circus, fair and firework show here tonight and tomorrow so that eased the hassles a bit. Vive La France

goats are really handy not only do they keep the grass down, but the are know to eat tins (FB) as well, thus dissposing of most of JJ unwanted stuff
