Now at Portsmouth after a reasonable smooth crossing from Bilbao very enjoyable way to travel. This is the new aircraft carrier absolutely enormous, pity there is no planes for it. Drove from Portsmouth to Glasgow in 8 1/2 hrs.View attachment 199261 View attachment 199262 View attachment 199263 View attachment 199264 View attachment 199265

Glad you had a good crossing, ours was probably the worst that I've had.. I think it was the smallest ferry in Brittany's fleet and for 29 hours

As my wife always says,,biggest is best,,Did I miss the party?? best go for a bigger ferry next time..
Better if you are smack in the middle of the boat, we weren't far off that. Deck 8 ,cabin 8063.Well they say you should stay a far to the back as possible for a smooth crossing but the cabins on this ferry went from the middle to the front, a bit of a bad design I think.

True but the Cap is 10,000 tons heavier which might make it handle better in bad weather, the reason I changed ship was the Baie has a more exposed deck so more risk of your vehicle getting splattered by the sea.Not much smaller than Cap Finistere,,,,BUSBY,,

That's misleading I think. The pivot point moves forward a bit when the vessel is under way but not as much as the diagram suggests.Seems I was wrong.

I'm only going by what I found on 'tinternet, we were quite comfortable midships but thought I would check. Did help build a few ships on the Clyde but never ventured out into the Biscay before. That's misleading I think. Having been in a cabin near the bows on a rough crossing when it was like sleeping in a lift I go for anywhere near the middle. Ideally as low down as possible. They put the posh cabins on the top decks but that means they experience more side to side movement. I suppose it's like having First Class at the front of an aircraft - they arrive before everyone else but statistically it is the most dangerous place to sit in an aircraft.
Up the workers!
