thoughts on what they could be please.

The clip is similar to a spire clip that slides over the edge of a metal panel and self tapper will screw into it, I can't see any reason it would be with that handle.
The handle looks almost like it's a house gutter joint strip.

Yes it’s very like a gutter joint strip ,but not from my house as mine are brown and it looks brand new ,and has a part no on it .Were I live it’s impossible for it to just have arrived at the side of my van .part no 3290057300.mystery this on I have checked every bit around the van including the around the Dometic awning.

The metal clip is to secure a door panel / facing. As for the plastic thing: I suggest you throw it in the dustbin, then 5 minutes after the bin persons have been, you'll realise what it's for and is very important.

Being the slide out would it even need it?
Sorry I just can’t figure out we’re it even came from as we have used the electric step loads of time with no problems .I guess that part is to lock it in position..

The black plastic clip is for use if your step develops a fault. It is used to stop the step sliding in and out by itself around corners. It comes from the factory/installer fitted into a groove underneath the step, ready for use. I, however, removed mine and chucked it in the glovebox in case it ever fell out of the groove.

Spot on.
