Not a happy bunny, found some damp today in the rear garage of my 2009 Rapido 9097F :cry::cry:
Its the rear left hand side, wood is completely rotten under the bracket. Next to the small garage door.
It spreads to left along the shelf for for circa 4 inch.
The opposite end ie back right is 25% damp so that needs sorting also and the opposite end at the font along the side locker is also 25% at that end. :(
Looking like need to new support joist replacing.:(
Hopefully will not cost me an arm and a leg but it def needs sorting.
I am baffled as to where the leak has come from at the moment.(n)
We've had the van almost 3 years. Got a damp check done when purchased and one 12 month later by Camper uk all okay.
Never got around to getting one done last year but did it myself and did not find anything. Although cannot recall if checked garage
Checked everywhere else on van, no issues. Double check above the garage and nothing.
Stumped as to where its come from(n)
Has anyone elese experienced a similar problem with their garage?
Can anyone recommend a repairer near Halifax, or in West Yorkshire? will go further afield if needed though.

Not good and what a pain! All sort-able though..

Of course we can have a look for you and source and sort the issue..

Bit far for you to come though maybe but a nice break away to the south east coast! let me know if you get to a dead end locally..

Thanks James yeah you are a tad far, if was to see you as part of a trip wouldnt be till end May.
I am hoping not a major issue and yes I agree it's repairable, just need to find someone who can do it for me and knows what they are doing.
I am not too concerned atm, just want it fixing.
The pain will be having to work around the fixing of it as lots planned this year, oh well if we have to rearrange things to get her booked in for repairs then so be it.
I'm no the first to find damp and won't be the last.

Hi,
I’ve found damp in the same area of my Rapido garage.
Did you get it sorted, where was it coming from. And who and how much has it cost you to repair.
I’m based in the midlands
Cheers Dave

Yes sorted was told garage seals the issue which we got replaced.
Just short of a grand I think, cannot confirm exact price as the bill was was more but we got a repair done and a few other jobs sorted at same time.
We used
Slow and poor comms, but decent job and I was happy with overall cost.
Happy to recommend, just tie him down on timescales.
Thankfully we weren't in a rush.

Harco . Try Cannock Resprays. They did some body repairs for us on a Burstner (not damp) and were very good. I understand Travelworld use them for repairs.

We used Johns Cross when we had damp in one area under the French bed in our Burstner several years ago and they did a brilliant job. Cost more than quoted as the area was bigger than expected. Cause was a pipe had become dislodged under the shower.

We had a very similar issue with our Rapido, and the cause seemed to be the seal on the door not sealing! In fact, if you get into the garage in daylight, and have someone shot that door, you may well see where the water gets in!

In our case, the alarm sensor would, presumably, not fit with the door hinges where they were, so whoever fitted the alarm slackened them off accordingly. Unfortunately, that allowed water in when it rained!!

Not terribly convenient for you, but we had ours fixed by Les Bateman at Southend Airport, who did an excellent job, at a very reasonable price!

Thanks for that.
Does anyone know what’s involved in repairing it, as I’m a joiner, and would be able to repair it myself, once I get my head around it?
Dave

Really feel your pain. I had the same problem with my Carthago and in the same place. As you are a joiner I think you would find the repair easy. Just think it through and I'm sure it will be resolved without much help. Appears to be a cut out and replace job but the cause may be a little more complicated.
Good luck.
