Our new van and out trailer will be 42 feet long!
Is this still within C1 licensing (7.5 ton). I'm buggered if it's not.
We're well under the 6 tonne MTW, but I'n concerned that the length might play a part.
Does it?

I've checked the DVLA website and length isn't mentioned.

I've just checked and I'm C1E, but still no mention of length, si I'm assuming that I'm OK.

It's 12 metres. That's not long, it's pretty standard for a large vehicle & trailer combination.

An estate car towing a twin axle caravan will be longer.

From memory, you should be ok up to 12 metres, which is under your 42', however I think that 12 metres does not include the tow bar or trailer hitch.

18.75M is 60 feet (ish) so well under. I knew that 60 feet was the max lengthn ormally allowed on the road, but I thought that was for HGVs. A little happier now.... A bit late now, we're getting the van on Friday!!!!!!

The van is plated at 5 tonne, so should be in the longer bracket.

I seem to remember that regulations for marker boards changed at 12m, if you were thinking of travelling on the continent

No intention of travelling on the continent, especially with the trailer. We only pull that when exhibiting at steam rallies.

I am uncertain but seem to recall that the limit for eurotunnel is 12m, or was it 16m?

i forgot i hope your trailer as 4 or more wheels .
best advice i can give is look on ebay for a transport managers and operators handbook.
even a couple years old is a good guide . it gives numbers to ring if need be .
