Forthcoming changes to EU pet travel legislation

Yes. One of our dogs chips has moved to the other side of her front leg. A recent x-ray found t! It explains why it was getting harder to get the machine to beep!
I’ve had 3 people at LeShuttle and my vet scan her all over, but to no avail, the vet reckons the chip has malfunctioned.
Anyway new chip and new rabies jab today, and now the 21 day wait starts.

I had the titre test done last year and the result entered in the dog’s EU PP but I also have the original lab report from the German testing house which I hope will be sufficient to get the Spanish AHC and Export Licence. I don’t know whether the titre test result is reported into one or both of these documents or whether it’s recorded in the Moroccan AHC.
So titre test has been done 🤞. I get the impression it might be the first one they’ve done as they were a bit unsure about it. Hopefully it has all the info required.

Would you mind DMing me a photo of where/how it’s filled in in your pet passport? The vet didn’t seem to think there was a space for it.

What a palaver!

The real problem is for those of us who want to exit the EU part way through our trip. All that has become a nightmare now, with you needing to get a new health certificate from each country before you transit into the next one. Our 2023 Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Italy trip would have been an admin nightmare, but we just breezed through with the PP.
As I said it was good while it lasted. 🤞UKPPs will soon be available which will hopefully solve that problem. In the meantime would you try claim you are an EU resident?

In view of the recent interesting FB post from the British solicitor (see post #1547) I thought I would try to obtain clarification of the EU's interpretation of this point. The reply from Your Europe is as follows:

It still seems to me very strange that transitional measures for EU Pet Passports issued under 577/2013 are not included in Article 31(b) but are instead tucked away in a separate regulation. 🤷‍♀️

........... ........... ........... ........... ........... ............ ........... ........... .......... ...........

I also received replies from Your Europe concerning proof of residency for the use of existing EU Pet Passports, but I have decided to post these in the 'Subscribers Only' forum.

How does one get into the Subscribers Only forum?

Just cleared customs at Dover and sat in lane 108 waiting for the ferry to Calais.
Handed ours and the dogs passport to French customs. Checked our passports didn’t even look at the dogs. No check of microchip?
UK passport check closed?
Checked in at Irish ferries handed ours and dogs passport over. Checked ours never even looked at the dogs? No check of microchip.
So it appears we are ready to sail, using the EUPP and with less scrutiny than normal. WTF ???

I'd heard that some of the ferries could be very lax with their pet checks - your experience backs that up.

We had the back up of an AHC. Might have been Murphy’s law had we not?? Still interested to see how others fare in the coming days, weeks, months.

Ironically, the following has just been posted on FB:

Seems that info didn’t get through to Dover (yet). It’s not like it was particularly busy or anything. For today anyway the EUPP worked. No questions asked, no checks made. Tomorrow could be a different story.

I assume you mean 'no' problems.

As NI is part of UK then you don't need a PP or AHC to go there, you just do a declaration to say you're not going to travel into Ireland.

Just landed in Dieppe no fingers prints or mugshot this time just scanned human passports last night rolled up at Newhaven presented EU pet passports sorry these are no longer valid for travel from UK unless your a EU resident me in my best strait face yes we are residents in Romania our address is in pet passport issued in February Jobs worth have you anything to prove your residency .At this point I gave up and handed over the overpriced pieces of paper called Animal Health Certificate roll on UK pet passports return now a nice slow drive down to our villa in Turkey for 3 months.

From earlier posts, I believe vzac is travelling on into the Republic of Ireland.

As far as I know, you are the first person to have actually been asked for proof of residency - I like your style. (y) This would have been DFDS I presume?

My answer would have been, all my documents are at home in Romania! 😁

No check of microchip?
Before brexit there was never any check up on a dog leaving the UK, only on entering. The only thing required for exiting was to inform the ferry company so as they could ensure the vehicle was placed in the correct area.
You always paid for the pet check in both directions but it was only ever checked entering the UK.
The first time I was asked to check the dog was in 2022 at Dover when leaving,& remember mine is a spanish dog & PP.
I asked why as it had never been done before & was told it was as a result of brexit

What will you need for your pet to re-enter the EU upon your return (I assume via Greece)?
