Foreigners to pay up to 130€ to use Germany's Autobanns

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German government introduced a controversial road toll on Thursday which will force foreign car drivers to pay up to 130 euros (102.4 pounds) a year for using Germany's Autobahn motorways.

It doen't become effective until 2016 and is likely to be challenged in the EU as discriminatory. We shall see. But, it won't in a way be much different to Portugals system, just register and pay when you enter the country and if you only go for a few days it probably won't cost much. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28199383

The system will be identical to what they have in Switzerland. a yearly vignette. German roads while good, are full of road works and suffer terrible jams. I will be going for our yearly jaunt to Italy and beyond via Switzerland again. cant stand german food anyway....so there!

We need a knock for knock toll system in the UK.
Foreigners pay, we don't.
That's the premise here, isn't it?
No farting about, pay up at the port of entry or get back on the boat.
How much longer are we to be Europe's piggy bank?

Germany off the touring list.
Their loss of income is another country's gain.

WRONG......Everyone pays

Not WRONG at all.

This has been pulled in the past regarding goods vehicles.
Everyone pays, but local vehicles get a tax knock down.
The reality is only the foreigner pays, but they are quite happy to use as our roads for free.
That, hopefully, is planned to change.
