The best way to carry a couple of folding alloy bikes???????? In their bags strapped somehow to the back, in their bags stuffed inside, or no bags, and on a conventional two bike rear carrier???

I just fold the handle bars down and stick 'em in the Garage. Managed to get five of our six bikes in the garage for our last Brugge trip with wife's folder on a blankey in the shower tray.

Well, haven't got a garage, but I seem to remember somewhere seeing two folders folded, (if you get my drift), and stuck onto a Fiammi bike rack, which I haven't got either. Reason for the OP was really to find the best method of moving them from A to B, without spending silly money.

If you have a carrier why not use it !

We don't even have bags. They are waterproof, aren't they.

Right. Will be round for your donation this PM!! :)

Oh dear, and I only asked. An idea I am 'playing' with is to extend the already proud tow bar by adding a tread-plate alloy 'shelf', onto which both bags can be secured, one each side. The advantage would be in not having to have a bike rack strapped permanently on the rear, the bikes themselves are protected from road crap, and they wouldn't be in the way of lights, number plate etc, alleviating the need for additional towing plate.
Just wondered if anyone else had gone that way, hence my thread.

OK, but Fiamma type bike racks can easily be removed leaving just the brackets or get a tow bar mounted rack - also easily removed.
Your Idea is OK for the UK but you would still need the reflective board overseas.

which I haven't got either.

You swine, you slipped that into another post.

Beware some bike racks then, Chrisboyo has a big name one on his PVC that is barely fit for purpose, it keeps bending his back door despite his best efforts reinforcing the door internally.

With new forum, I can't see what van you have to offer any other advice.

That's called my bluff, no real idea of you storage but at least I know it's not a PVC.

If you have a tow bar and some ingenuity I guess you platform idea is sound and economical. I've seen many back boxes which would be another solution with added advantage you can store more than bikes in it. That's only one small step for tootles kind further than ledges.

Thanks mate, at least I'm on the right track. I may crave your indulgence next week, if you could give me your considered on site opinion. :)

May I suggest, with respect, that a good way to move bicycles from A to B would be by using their pedals...

That way it would be free...

They have an interesting way of folding bikes in Gloucester - they crush them.Broken Link Removed

On one of the links on the right hand side of the page is a story about "Crocs on a Plane" which I don't remember reading anywhere else. The croc not being that of the plastic shoe variety.
