Forest and Land Scotland’s “Stay the night Scheme” is to resume on 26th April at 31 sites. The exact locations to be announced then which is a shame as prevents forward planning. It is a resumption of the trial so, please, anyone using them respect the rules and give positive feed back.

Can't see anything on the FLS website about it. Where did you hear?

There does not to be anything on their website but the below is what CAMpRA have been told:

Forestry and Land Scotland have announced that their popular Stay the Night Scheme, where motorhomes and campervans are permitted to stay overnight in a selection of Forestry & Land Scotland car parks, will be run again this year.

This is what they have told us:

"With staycations likely to continue to be the main holiday option this year, we will run a further trial starting on 26 April when “stay local” COVID-19 restrictions are scheduled to be lifted.

This second trial – with 31 sites (and potentially a few more), details onlineExternal link from 26 April - will be run along similar lines to last year’s and will help accommodate the expected high levels of demand and help alleviate the anticipated pressures on the tourism sector arising from high visitor numbers.

For this trial, we will also be introducing a small charge at half a dozen sites. This will help us gauge how best to manage this element of the offer, in line with our original plans as announced last year.

We are not yet in a position to offer Stay-the-Night as a permanent feature and this second trial will also help inform our decision."

Stopped at Clatteringshaws for coffee this afternoon, the charge for Stay the Night is 2 full day tickets, £6.00. Plus, if you arrive early you'll need to purchase a parking ticket.

Please will everyone who stays on one of these car parks fill in the feedback form. The pay ones like Clatteringshawes will be monitored but the smaller, more remote ones probably won’t and we need to let FLS know how much they are appreciated.
