When we moved to this house just over 5 years ago there was a spikey plant in the back garden which was partly growing across the pathway.

I chopped it back and SWMBO was not too happy at all, I did say that it would grow back only this time not as an obstruction.

Now whether it is the good weather we are having or not but it has flowered for the first time, here are the results, what it is ?

I think they're called a Yukka (not sure on spelling) but some of them only flower every 5 years or so. That flower stalk will flop over when finished which is a bit sad but they look nice while they're blooming.

(Just looked it up, spelt Yucca. Yours appears to be called a Garden Palm Lilly http://www.cambridge2000.com/gallery/html/PA099047.html )
