Still a newb
Hi all, newbie here and apologies for my first post being a 'help me!' one but...

I have a 2015 Burstner Travel Van which I bought in July this year from a dealer. I noticed a crack in the shower tray and a bubble forming under the vinyl in the kitchen while away in France in September so informed the dealer and arranged to take it back into them last month.

They have fixed the shower tray (repaired not replaced but it was only a very small crack) but they told me today that the bubble issue is the top layer of plywood delaminating (apparently it's a ply/hard/ply laminate) and which needs the entire floor to be replaced by Burstner or Camper UK. It's apparently a known problem (https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/floor-delamination.192313/).

The dealer will be booking it in sometime in the New Year and the work should take about a month. Covered under warranty thankfully!

I'm fairly new to motorhomes and my question is, if you were me, would you be happy with that level of repair on a relatively new van from a 'premium' manufacturer?

The length of time it would take is a pain but I wouldn't be using it much until the spring anyway. My concern is more having everything taken out and refitted which I'd worry wouldn't ever fit back in quite as well or be as 'tight'/squeak free etc. It's also made me a little wary of what other issues there may be lurking.

Just to say that the dealer has been fantastic - helpful, communicative and immediately accepted the work would be under warranty so no complaint there.

Thanks for your opinions in advance!

It seems Burstner moved onto a less toxic glue for the floor vinyl for a short period that wasn't any good.
They are replacing the floor covering FOC and Camper UK seem to be doing all of them. Camper UK are a good reputable company and will have developed a good method for the completing the work.
Just use the van as normal until you take it in.

Not a straight answer - But- I would trust Camper UK to do the work - we have used them in the past - and they seem to be one of the most reputable dealers around.

Thank you both for the replies - consensus so far then is that it's not something to worry about as long as the work is done well which Camper UK should be perfectly competent at.

It would be the same problem if you had the van from new and so what would you do other than accept the repair. If you bought a more expensive new one you could get a problem if you bought secondhand might get a problem too!!!!. If you have a dealer with a good reputation and a well respected repairer I would stick with it.

Absolutely - I'm not in any rush to change the van, perfectly happy with it in every other regard.

I'm only really asking the question to check with more experienced owners that they wouldn't see it as a warning sign, if there would be anything they would be concerned about or if there are any items they would say to check were done correctly.

Just reassurance I guess
:)

I would say you have landed very luckily, had you bought it privately you would now be looking a few £K’s to repair I would guess

I would take above positive comments on repairers as good enough for me if I was you

disappointing maybe a little, just be thankful someone else is paying ??

Don' worry a number of new Burstners' of that era had/have that problem including mine (2016 - t665), it takes a number of years to become apparent. In France the repair is carried-out out at the Wissembourg factory in Alsace, excellent job and completed in two weeks.

Only problem it was a 2,000km round trip with the van. Luckily in France we have an excellent cheap rail service, I was able to travel straight through from Strasbourg to our nearest station in five hours. Likewise picking ' up the van.
