Well it rained here last night and no sun today but plenty wind. Can't complain though it got the washing dry :)

Just been looking at the Alicante floods, ten people dead, the pictures of devastation are horrific. This time last year we were there, very glad we stayed in Blighty this year!

It was horrendous weather for about 24 hours, following a weekend of record high temperatures for March. It was around 30 degrees in Aguilas at the weekend, falling to around 8 degrees on Monday. All returned to normal now. Truly frightening how quickly there can be such extreme changes.
Warm and sunny in Altea, this morning.

have spent many weeks over the years in galecia.
its a great are.
we are at caion at moment , lovely area. like being at home in cornwall in the summer ,nice port beach etc .
used to spend several months in winter around this north coast when iwas younger ,great surfing area.
mind its not the morte coast for nothing . to the west at arou is the graves of 170 seamen british shipwrecked in the 1890,s . makes your mind work as you look out at the sea.
but this year record high temps since records began.

Where's Caion Alan? I think you said it was west of A Coruña, but I can't find it on the map. I've been to Malpica and Muxia a couple of years ago. Lovely area.

I think that could be it. Getting my easts and wests muddled. :) It's the bit of Galicia we missed out when we detoured to Lugo. Known as the Rias Altas I believe. We must return!

But then again, is that on the Costa Morte?

hope that works . its between malpica and coruna . we are just off the playa in the car park. there is a m,home water and toilet dump just out side the village by the gymnasium. its in the airres book or so i,m told .
there are some great places all over spain if you stay off the main roads .
was last here 7 years ago and only here 5 mins and a local asked where we had been that last few winters . he remembered the trucks .
another nice stop over is brandomil . in the picnic area by the roman bridge . close to a lake saw otters in the river under the bridge passed half hour the other night . when heading this way.

Looks wonderful Alan. I will make a note of that place. Found no doubt, by your hugging the coast technique. :)

visited some places this year i havnt been since my kids were only little .
at brandomil went in the bar and talked with the barman he remembered my lads he was about 16 at the time . we had stopped a bit away from the picnic area and he told us where it was. he remembered the van as we were in a customized vw van back then. must have been almost 30 years ago. doesnt time fly.
off again tomorrow hugging the coast ,nearest road to the sea . dont know where we are going but it will be in spain if we keep the sea on the left. ha ha .

not mine . but yes there is .
there is great places inland in spain but in winter deep snow is around . we saw loads on the hills as we travelled north but missed it .
lots history with roman ruins and civil war history.
we very often follow don quiote route but this year followed earnest hemmingways routes in his stories about the civil war here . makes good fun .

There are supposed to be a lot of vineyards in the eastern part of Galicia. Rias Baixas wines have even reached our local Tesco.
However, during our whistle stop tour I don't recall ever seeing one. :)
