China 🇨🇳 has claimed territorial rights over Taiwan for many years since they split off, so get antsy when any high profile politicians “recognise” Taiwan’s independence

Didn’t realise Taiwan was ceded to Japan in 1895, then handed back to China after WWII. It split off again in late 1940s when the Communist revolution took place and ever since it’s status as an independent country has been debated. China says it’s just another Chinese province, whereas Taiwan say they’re an independent country.

If you want to catch up on Geo Politics read Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall, or The Power of Geography by the same guy. Very interesting.

Love the sound they make when they go over my house on their way home most days.

Unfortunately they are always too high to see.
We are fortunate to see them over home most days going into Lakenheath but strangely not the F35's which are also based there.

Read something the other day about Yank F35's being grounded due to faulty ejection cartridges in the Martin Baker ejector seats ?

Not just the Yank F35s. Apparently lots of others needed to be checked for the Cartridge Actuated Device problem

RAF Typhoons
German Typhoons
RAF Hawks including Red Arrows
F18 C/D Hornets
F18 D/E Super Hornets
EF-18 Growlers
T45 Goshawks (carrier version of UK Hawk trainer)
F5 tigers
T38 Talons
T6 Texans

I think some of these are now flying again, but obviously taking time to check them all

How do the alerts work on FR24? Is it possible to set an alert for when a certain aircraft type is close to where you are?

Problem is my computer at work uses vodaphone sim router so thinks I am in London and my laptop uses my 3GEE so thinks I am in England somewhere. So could I set an alert for say, when an A400 Atlas is flying over NE Scotland?
