I've just seen a couple of large and high planes going east west over Bradford but nothing on fr24???🤔🤔🤔

Not sure what they are need some bins!!!

Cheers James
A lot of the military planes don't come up on FR24. Surprised that they would be flying on a Friday afternoon though. It used to be joked that it was the best time to attack the UK because everyone had gone home :)

I had an alert for that earlier, then it disappeared. Maybe aircraft testing?
The Cobham Falcon jets are playing war games with the Typhoons from Coningsby.
The Falcons act as aggressor and have a sophisticated electronic suite that can make it appear to be different aircraft. Today a Mig tomorrow something else.
They won’t be showing their position to anyone once they are in 'combat'.
They fly almost every day anywhere in and around the U.K.

There's a Boeing Poseidon from RAF Lossie doing the rounds down in NE England.

I'm sure someone can confirm if that is the sub hunter?

Correct. (y)
They are based at Lossiemouth, four I think at the moment with more on the way as completed.

They must have saved up a few Tesco's points to buy a few gallons of Avgas, as the Aircraft carrier is using the remainder for the Gin cooler generator.

What you have to take into account is that most of the aircraft tracking is done by amateurs with receivers picking up the transmissions from aircraft and passing them on via the internet.
The number of contributors to a particular website will have a huge impact on the coverage.
The coverage depends on the number of trackers, the terrain (hills and mountains are not good for tracking low flying aircraft) and of course the altitude of the aircraft.
Scotland with its lumpy terrain and low population is never likely to have good reception of aircraft as they descend.
High flying commercial flights are quite easy for the receivers to see but 'puddle jumpers' are a completely different matter.

Richard.

Also noted that all the 747 are cargo planes now.

Have they brought up the remaining 747 to use as cargo planes?
BA have decommissioned theirs, have other airlines?

Is the A380 still being built??

Cheers James

The A400M fly's over our house most days.
I Photographed this one over the coast in Tywyn Gwynedd.View attachment 546926
That's a Hercules, not an A400M - the giveaway is that the A400M has a T-tail (the tailplane's on top of the fin, which is very rectangular). The Hercules has a more conventional fuselage-mounted tailplane, and fancy two-level cockpit windows, and the wings aren't swept back like the A400M ones.
