Caravan owner moved on to Motorhome
Just been to the storage area to make sure the MH was all tucked up and warm. Oh jeeze how many flies!!! Had to fumigate the van. Does anyone have any tips on keeping the buggers out? I don’t keep hanging carcasses in there btw

Maybe a mouse carcass or something attracted them to start with.
We had a bluebottle trapped in our wheelie bin during the summer.... A week later dozens of maggots crawling over the rubbish.

Go to the £ shop and get a fly swat looks like a tennis racket you need 4aa batteries lasts for ever. The don’t feel it coming like the newspaper they can’t feel the air pressure. Whalla zapped.

Just opened mine today and found a huge wasp flying around, hope it hasn't made a nest!!

Don’t know how effective these tips are but at least they’re cheap and easy to do.

I think most wasps die over winter, just the Queens survive to set up a new nest. Presumably you either evicted it or terminated it.

Terminated..................I asked it nicely to go away but it insisted on trying to stay.

I had a similar problem when my autotrail was in storage except the flies were in every nook and cranny on the outside .They were cluster flies and the roller blind was full of them ,I’m talking hundreds ,so we bought large tins of fly spray and dosed all the seals vents and the blind .and coated all the rubber seals with glycerine ,our storage was bordering farmland.Never had any further problems :)

Yes cluster flies they are, not looking for food or dead animals or filth, they are wanting somewhere warm to overwinter
Often called attic flies, they are extremely difficult to get rid of if they choose your house as they release pheromones and return year after year

Much easier to control in a camper as you can move it.

Late summer and autumn they look for somewhere to overwinter, in Spring they all leave for fields in the countryside where their larvae feed on earthworms.

Close everything tight when storing the van in late summer/Autumn, tape up the fridge vents, spray a bit of insecticide around doors/frames/awnings.

Try to store/park in the shade and not direct sunlight which the flies love due to warmth.

It is still horrendous with them here.
