Hi - first time poster here, and nearly a first time motorhome owner.

I'm after some opinions on the Fleurette Wincester (2021) 75LMF. It looks fabulous, but as a first time buyer I wondered if there was anything specific to this make/model I should be wary of?

Thanks.

:hiya:
The main problem seems to be that it is not usable due to no payload.

Hi, and thanks for your answer. That was something I didn't even realise I had to look out for.

I obviously need to research this, but briefly does this mean the thing ways only 291kg short of the 3.5T limit for my driving licence?

(sorry, I meant weighs, I will self flagillate...)

You can't in real life run vans of over 7m at 3500kg certainly not an A Class. If you want an A Class van and want to keep to 3500kg you need to be looking at sub 6.5m vans even then it will be difficult
Our van is 7.5m and has a payload of 1350kg on a 4500kg chassis. I wouldn't entertain a van with less than 700kg payload.

YES!

Another thing to consider with the Fluerette is the number and position of the 240V sockets: we weren’t impressed.
If it has the convertible seats for travelling passengers, check that you are happy with how they operate.

Briefly - yes.
Slightly longer - 291kg payload is almost certainly an optimistic estimate as most models will have extras fitted that will reduce the payload by whatever they weigh. For example an automatic gearbox will likely weigh more than the manual but the payload will assume you have the manual model. Likewise add in extras such as awning, solar panel and you will have no payload left.
As the driver you will be responsible for driving a vehicle that weighs under 3500kg ( if that's what your license limits you to) or face the consequence.
Have a search on here for threads about payload, it's a minefield I'm afraid.

Thank you all for your responses.

I actually have a C1 licence which i think allows me to drive up to 7.5T (I need to check that).

So is the 3,5T limit only for the driver's licence (in which case I'm ok) or does the vehicle itself have a max. weight of 3.5T?

I've asked this without researching myself, but I'm going to do that as well now...

Yes it does... but you can up rate most vehicles... either as a paper exercise, or by fitting rear airbags or wider tyres. The taxation class also has to be changed at the DVLA.
We'd need a pic of the vin plate to advise the potential.

Thank you for this. We haven't bought the MH yet, so I don't have that info.

Thank you to everyone who has responded. I clearly have a lot to research and learn!

Take a look in the Resources section, you can download the Buyers Guide. There is also advice on Payloads etc.👍

If you are looking at the Winchester on Autotrader it is taxed at 4400kg. I would imagine the payload would be sufficient.

Hi - yes, I am looking at that one. Where did you find mention of 4400kg? I can't see that anywhere. I can see it mentions 4.4kg payload. Is there a way to find this info out independently?

edit - ah yes, on the gov.uk site (https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk) I can see it's taxed weight.

So does that mean it has been uprated to 4.4T, and is safe to load up?

Yes, and with your C1 you can legally drive it.It will be the GVW that is 4.4ton. not the payload but the payload will probably be in the region of 900kg

We have a magister 74MLF when we purchased it new last august the first thing we did was weighed every item we put in ,filled it with fuel and tootled off to the weighbridge and we had 250kg to play with for food and any extras ,but its only used as a two berth and one small dog.
so it is doable.

Thank you to everyone for your input. It's been really useful. And as it's been confirmed as uprated to 4.4T, we're going to go for it as we believe there is more than enough payload for 2 of us.

Cheers, all!

We have one. Standard payload is poor like every other A class with extras at 3500. Pm me if you'd like a chat about the van.

This one has been uprated to 4400kg, so we're hoping that gives us over 1000kg though we'd probably need to weigh it unladen to be sure. It has got a lot of extras on it (inc. a second battery, which can't be light).

(I've also responded to your PM).
