Trundling down the A26 dual carriageway which is two lanes plus a hard shoulder at a steady 60mph and I got a single flash by a speed camera . Surely this has to be a mistake as I was on cruise control at bang on 60 and my Motorhome is 3500kg gross

Since the '80,s
My French reg camper sets them off occasionally,we are 3.5 t .
I suspect it checks as if over 3.5 could be over the limit.Never been speeding and heard nothing.
I feel you can rest easily and not worry,Sure you won't hear anything.

It depend on the signed speed limit - I know of more than one dual carriageway where the signed speed limit is 30 & quite few that are 40 & 50 limits.

Living the dream.
We were flashed a few times in France last year. When I asked it was thought there might have been a height sensor involved to bring you into LGV speed limits, once checked the photo would show a camping car.

Yes, that's true.

I've been flashed loads of times and nothing's ever happened.

I think the size of a motorhome must sometimes trigger the cameras as an HGV speeding. I guess once they review it and see that it's a camping car not a lorry that's the end of it.

Are we talking about the A26 motorway in France or the A26 trunk road in Kent/Sussex?
I frequently get flashed in France on motorways where my camping-car (4500kg and 110kph limit) gets mistaken for an HGV which has a 90kph limit.
Never heard anything.............yet.

Richard.

Sorry should have made it more clear it was the A26 just north of Troyes and there was no reduced speed limit markings just a warning of speed cameras

If A26 in France, was it raining? Mind you, I don't think that affects fixed speed cameras.

Blisteringly hot here now .
To be fair, we'd had 6 weeks and had to evacuate to the Alps on a few occasions to cool down. It probably wasn't as hot as in 2015 but that really was hot. I know fridges aren't brilliant but in 2015, I was convinced ours was done in but had it tested when home and our guy suggested and fitted a fan.
It was hot in May and June and I'm really glad I'm not there now as it would be stifling, especially for Pepper.
