Flair 8000i (2002-ish) (1 Viewer)

Possibly looking at a Niesmann & Bischoff Flair 8000i (2002-ish) tag axle. Last MoT 2015, but SORNED and appears to be ok at first, external, glance. Anything to look for? Also, what are they like? Looks a big beastie.

No link. It is an entirely accidental occurrence. Maybe nothing will come from it. Incidentally I see you have a Concorde Charisma. Same question: any good? I quite like the look of the early 2000s models.

Hi @oldieish we have a 2005 built Flair 8000 on the IVECO rear wheel drive chassis, ours is 8.5 metres and 6t all up with about 1400kg payload from the factory, cracking build quality but there are a couple of things to look for but the one that usually comes up is misting of the double glazed side windows, costs a fortune to fix at a dealer but easy and cheap DIY.

They are easy vans to work on because of how they are built.

Not sure if this model has the metal roller blind over windscreen, if so check it runs true in its runners, if not vehicle is suffering from serious damp problems.

Very good... take a look at the Southdowns Motorhome website - they have secondhand ones from time to time (not sure what age they'd be though).

This one being a Flair will be all alloy construction, only the Arto prior to 2000 had wood panels inside.

We had a flair 9000ie on an Iveco chassis. Terrific vehicle just too big for our needs.
Only thing to go wrong was a heater resistor which caused a smell followed by a panic. Fixed very cheaply.
Good if you can find one. Sometimes for Sale in the N and B owners club.

I cant see damp being a problem in a quality built van like this, even if there has been a leak in a roof vent etc.

Check glass cab windows as said, also shower tray for cracks and garage/looker doors, especially garage doors for leaking in, which some of them did.
2002 if Iveco it will be 2.8 so will need a cambelt straight away and a good service, 3 years a long time just to be stood, inside or outside?

Given the choice I would go rear wheel drive IVECO like Sundowners van rather than FWD Fiat base, apart from the extra traction advantage with the RWD you will also save a fortune if you use French tolls as the tandem axle Fiat will be class 4.

Superb quality Motorhome. We re on our second NB Arto 13 years and well over 100k between them.

It does depends what you want to do with it but I would also go for one with the Iveco chassis preferably a 3 litre.
