Hi All

We have a Burstner Lyseo 710G with a garage in the rear. I want to travel with bikes secured upright instead of laying down.

I have just purchased some fiamma garage bars premium that I plan to fix width ways then bolt fork fixings to these. (https://www.fiammastore.com/Fiamma-...ge/Fiamma-Garage-Bars-and-Garage-Bars-Premium)

The floor seems to be fairly thick - about 30-40mm so looking for advice on if I should screw into the floor or drill through and bolt through the floor? I plan to also apply a thin smear of silicon in order to secure further.

Also any ideas on what to use to secure the rear wheel with? I want something to grip the rear wheel, but not too big and something I can remove from the bar fairly easily.

Your advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Hi,you won’t have a problem booting through the floor just ensure it’s clear beneath and ensure when you tighten the bolts you don’t overdo it there’s no need to overcompress the make up of the floor, also don’t even think about using Silicone A) it’s not nessasary and B) the next buyer of your MH might not need a bike rack and Silicone will look a mess if the rack is removed.

I would bolt through the floor, and put big washers, or a spreader plate on the underside of the floor.

Some people put a plywood deck down. I have not yet been blessed with a garage, but when I get one in a couple of weeks, I’m going to fit something like this, for ease of parking my ludicrously heavy ebike in.

Thanks to all for responding and for welcoming me to the forum.

Some great ideas and suggestions. I like the look of the Minoura Vergo Excel rack.

Cheers

Just looking at this further, how does this secure? Do the sides extend or fix down?

It's completely free standing - the fork mounts clamp to the rail and have a large rubber foot under them, and each end of the rail has a rubber foot. We find it doesn't move at all, but can easily be moved around / removed as needed. I suppose you could drill through it to fix it down permanently if you wanted to.

(I've put riser blocks under the fork mounts to suit mountain bike forks with through-axles - not needed for road bikes in the photo)
