Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and thinking of a first purchase. It is a 1990 Mercedes 310 coachbuilt. It has no power steering and I am wondering if its possible to get it fitted? Any advice or help appreciated. Thank you. Kris.

I suppose the problem will be trying to find the parts for a 30 year old MH. Were they made with power steering in the first place or is it something missed off because of RH drive. Then you have to sort out doing the work unless you can do it yourself. Finally is it worth it. A 30year old MH is not worth that much and you would probably never get your money back.

If you want power steering just buy something that already has it.

many many years! since I was a kid
back when they were new, there were a couple of specialist firms that would fit power steering. they used the steering rack and components designed for another vehicle of the right size and engineered brackets to make it work

at 30 years old, you wont even find many in scrap yards now. So it would be a difficult and expensive project

1996, then break 'til 2011
Had electric power steering fitted to my 1991 Renault Trafic 4 years ago (parts off a Corsa, I think)

They did the conversions on Talbots and Trafics, don't know if you could do it to others

Best try classic Merc forums or Google "Electric Power Steering Conversion"?

Good luck

Thank you everyone. Found a company thst would do it for £675. However AA would not do inspection so walked away. So therefore I am still looking for my first motorhome. I am veering towards a fibreglass body as I live where motors come to die through rust . Isle of Lewis .
AA say they don't do inspection over 15 years of age.
Www.easysteer.co.uk was firm who could fit power steering.
